Updates / Re: Install updates error log - Mullvad repository

Thanks
You are welcome.

Those commands will have copied a mullvad keyring from the Internet into your /usr/share/keyrings directory and added a file called mullvad.list into /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ using priviledged access.

Open a terminal (Ctrl, Alt, T) and identify the 'mullvad' additions with
Code: [Select]
ls -l /usr/share/keyrings/
Code: [Select]
ls -l /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
Once you are happy you've identified the additions, you can delete them with these commands.
You will be modifying system critical locations so will need to enter your password.
Take care to only delete (rm) the specific files that were added by the mullvad install.

Code: [Select]
sudo rm /usr/share/keyrings/mullvad-keyring.asc
Code: [Select]
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mullvad.list
It is assumed the both the commands following "# Install the package" will have failed.
Provided they failed, there will be nothing to undo.
Let us know if those commands did anything other than report errors.

Once you've done tidying try running an update/upgrade sequence to ensure that completes.

Updates / Re: Install updates error log - Mullvad repository
« Last post by 177 on May 30, 2024, 06:22:33 AM »
Thanks.
I can see where I have gone wrong, but not how to reverse it.

The instructions I followed to (re)install Mullvad were:

# Download the Mullvad signing key
sudo curl -fsSLo /usr/share/keyrings/mullvad-keyring.asc https://repository.mullvad.net/deb/mullvad-keyring.asc

# Add the Mullvad repository server to apt
echo "deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/mullvad-keyring.asc arch=$( dpkg --print-architecture )] https://repository.mullvad.net/deb/stable $(lsb_release -cs) main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mullvad.list

# Install the package
sudo apt update
sudo apt install mullvad-vpn

Can you tell me how to reverse this?

Thanks

I've split your post to a new topic.  Although your symptoms are similar it will be better to provide support under a new topic as the other thread was marked as SOLVED..

It looks like something is wrong with the security mechanism for updating Spotify.
This is stopping the update/upgrade process from working.

Did you install spotify from Lite Software ?

You may be able to manually add the missing security mechanism by following the instructions in this post
https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/updates/install-updates-could-not-fetch-the-package-cache-information-lists-9547/msg61856/#msg61856

Your system OS (Linux Lite 5.x) is based on Ubuntu Focal.
A repository for a mullvad application has been added to your system.
It appears that mullvad doesn't offer a version of their application which is compatible with Focal.
This is stopping the update/upgrade process from running.
You need to remove any elements of the mullvad application by reversing the instructions you followed when installing.
As part of this ensure that the mullvad repository is deleted from your system.

This should allow the update/upgrade process to run again.

I think the last iteration was all Mousepad.  After I noticed the fluke I made sure to only use a very basic text editor.

Fixed.

What text editor are you using?

I use Mousepad too.

I noticed a small bug / glitch when using the new lite-tweaks file Jerry.  Not a huge deal but the checkmark icons you have in the script might not show up correctly in the original version.  I've updated the file so, hopefully, that won't happen with this version:

https://digitalhemi.com/files/apps/Linux/LL7-RC1/lite-tweaks

I especially noticed the problem when running the browser cashe cleaning tweaks (Firefox and Chrome).  The checkmark icons showed up in Zenity as "ee-^e" or something bizarre like that.

We'll be using @sqwuade lite tweaks file, thank you.

zenity how has webkit disabled in the newer Ubuntu packages, so we put a mark hold on zenity and zenity-common
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zenity/+changelog

Fixed.
