Good point, Serban!
I was wondering if I'd be missing something down the road.
I'll try from time to time and see how it goes.
Thanks.

Serban.
As instructed, I removed the ppa in question from the software list and refreshed.
The update finished successfully now.
Many thanks.

Glad I could help!
Now, there's one more thing you need to do from time to time:
Reactivate the PPA, and see if the developer pushed the latest version in the repo.
If the update process goes smoothly, then you can leave the PPA active, until a new error emerges, if eventually that happens again.
This is what I do when I get to this point from time to time.

Please, read the manual:

https://www.linuxliteos.com/manual/software.html#ppa

You need to disable the PPA:

https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/micahflee/ppa/ubuntu

The Error message is clear enough: The software you want, for whatever reason, lacks the appropriate packages for the OS version.
Uncheck the PPA box, then refresh the sources list.
After that, close the Software & Updates window than restart the update procedure (in CLI, Ctrl+Alt+T):

Code: [Select]
sudo apt upgrade

Sound / Re: linux-lite on a chromebook(wiped)
« Last post by Mzee on May 23, 2024, 08:39:40 AM »
I am in much the same situation with an Acer 317 Chromebook. In this case the sound card is Jasper Lake. I have tried a lot of Linux OS's, but the only ones which work are too heavy, & cause overheating. It has no fan or ventilation. I am using a $26 USB adapter for sound, pending further research. The keyboard control keys work fine as well.

Hard Drives and SSDs / Re: Mounting NTFS with read-write permissions

Do you have ntfs-g3 installed on the machine?  I setup a LL Media server for a friend and he had an 8Tb ntfs formatted drive we wanted to use with all the media files already on it.  We were able to mount it r/w pretty easily after installing ntfs-g3.  Create a mount point and add the drive to /etc/fstab (here's the working lines from his /etc/fstab file):

# 8Tb Data Storage Drive
UUID=E60899A9089978EF  /8Tb  ntfs-3g  defaults  0 0

(You can get the UUID info for the drive from gparted or parted)

We set up a samba share too so can write new files to it from his Windows laptop.

Your working with an older system so things might be different...  Good luck.

I WAS ABLE TO FIND A SOLUTION THANKS TO CHATGPT

So it recommended I suspend Bitlocker in Windows then booting into Linux after. I had read that before but I thought it needed to be suspended everytime before booting Linux:
"The initial suspension of BitLocker is a one-time process to allow Windows to recognize and adapt to the new boot configuration without triggering recovery mode. Once you have resumed BitLocker after suspending it and configuring the BIOS/UEFI settings, BitLocker should not trigger recovery mode again for these specific settings."

Here are the steps I followed for anyone wondering:

1. Backup BitLocker Recovery Key: Ensure you have the BitLocker recovery key backed up.

2. Suspend BitLocker Protection:

Open the Control Panel.
Go to System and Security > BitLocker Drive Encryption.
Select Suspend protection for the drive where BitLocker is enabled.
Confirm the suspension.
Configure BIOS/UEFI Settings:

3.Reboot and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.

Enable "Microsoft 3rd Party UEFI" to allow Linux Lite to boot.
Save and exit the BIOS/UEFI settings.

4. Boot into Linux to check it's working

5.Boot into Windows:

Boot into Windows with the new BIOS/UEFI settings.
Since BitLocker was suspended, it should not require a recovery key.
Resume BitLocker Protection:
In Windows, go back to Control Panel > System and Security > BitLocker Drive Encryption.
Select Resume protection.

Following those steps allowed me to dual boot without needing to constantly change Secure Boot Settings to avoid Bitlocker recovery.
Cheers

Hey,

I'm trying to run a Live System version of Linux Lite off a USB on a work Lenovo thinkpad x13 which is running Windows 11 and is bootlocker protected with TPM2.0.

I can boot it by turning off Safe Boot but then it's a pain as when i try to boot the windows partition it asks for a BitLocker recovery key.

I can also boot it with Secure Boot by enabling "Allow Microsoft 3rd Party UEFI CA" in the Lenovo Bios, but for some reason that still triggers Bitlocker recovery when booting into Windows?

Has anyone found a solution for this? Why should bitlocker care that 3rd party is enabled, it's still a certified secure boot? Is it to do with the TPM? I would love to just be able to boot off the USB without going into the BIOS everytime. Thanks in advance!
