Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting - TheRoboticM - 05-31-2020 So, I am pretty new to the OS and when I started using it, I encountered problems with the connection and slowly the problems started growing worse. Now, I cannot connect to the internet. When I faced this problem, I simply rebooted the PC and it seemed to kept working. But now, even rebooting the system isn't solving the problem. The problem is that when I boot up the PC, it automatically disconnects the network and when I try to reconnect, it doesn't let me connect. I know that the network adapter is working but it is still not connecting to the network. Please help me with this issue. Thanks. Re: Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting - jesse.bassett - 06-15-2020 If you have hotspot on your cellular phone try that first. Second, if you have ethernet available, that works best because ethernet is more secure and realible than wifi. Re: Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting - TheDead - 06-15-2020 Nice idea from Jesse to try on a cellular HotSpot. I have seen more than once a Wi-Fi router or card getting "tired" (i.e. internal components showing age). For example, I do charity work and D-Link routers of a certain age are trashed since always problematic. You could also try borrowing a compatible USB Wi-Fi adapter. I say "compatible" since I had a bunch of adapter over the years, on different OSes, that were not always up to par. Re: Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting - jesse.bassett - 06-15-2020 TheDead, Thanks for the compliment! I appreciate it! As for a better solution, this should be made as an aside by [member=2]Jerry[/member] somehow. He should make an announcement that if you have wifi issues with Linux Lite 5.0 you should try to use Ethernet or Hotspot. I do not know how many topics I have read about people all having the same wifi issue. Wifi is always sketchy which is why I personally use ethernet. It just is better. Just an idea for [member=2]Jerry[/member]. Again though thanks for the warm reception to my advice!

[member=23185]TheRoboticM[/member] there are good suggestions in the thread Additional information may be beneficial in troubleshooting, make/model the Wireless NIC, Driver - internal/USB etc etc... If you haven't yet - a piece in the manual https://www.linuxliteos.com/manual/network.html#wireless Some commands to run and post the output for each seperatly Code: uname -aRe: Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting - TheRoboticM - 06-16-2020 Really sorry for the late reply... I was fed up with my computer so mch that I let it rot for almost a month. Almost magically, my 7-year-old computer came back to life normally with no issues. The network issue was solved and it is working normally. I am confused as to why it was not working earlier. And as my router is far away from my computer (my computer is a large beast), I cannot connect it with ethernet... My computer has just fixed itself magically. Any idea how? Thanks a lot everyone for your suggestions. Re: Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting - TheDead - 06-16-2020 Unicorn dust? or, maybe some updates fixed some problems... or2, some hardware is flaky and currently working until it does not. Use it while it works.
Re: Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting - TheRoboticM - 06-19-2020 Ok so I started using my computer once again and this problem again started frustrating me. Once again, I tried hotspot but no success. Then I ran the commands firenice03 gave and have attached the output. I am once again asking for your technical support. Thanks! Code: uname -a:Re: Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting - firenice03 - 06-19-2020 I added your output to the tread as code tags for easier reading.... Atheros I too have one in my laptop - its stable (no disconnects) but speed fluctuates.... Mine is a little different Somethings to try Set your Wi-Fi to WPA2-PSK (if not) Or look for a USB adapter - Realtek chip or a Panda ![]() https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/network/network-speeds-ath9k-atheros/msg47705/#msg47705 Re: Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting - TheDead - 06-20-2020 Yes, WPA3-PSK is a good idea. Also, an update to the router maybe? Again, if you have an old D-Link router, change it. ![]() ... erm, what is your router exactly? |
