Hi, In my time with linux (all the way back to 2004) scan detection has always been an issue.. You got to wonder why it is no one has figured out how to make it full proof right out of the box. (Like Windows does) Anyway I'm liking Linux Lite over Ubuntu! surprise huh.My WF-2760 prints but the scanner is not detected. I'm not interested in config files being wrongly setup nor am I interested in any complicated solution. I'm to old to figure all this out. Does anyone have a simple solution? Real simple? If you think you can figure it out I'd be willing to give you the ID and temp password to Teamviewer so you can  get on and get the scanner going, how bout that?
Thanks for helpingAndrew

@firenice03

Yeah, I'm glad too.  I nearly gave up because I thought it was the LSB that was at fault (obsolete maybe).  Now I am going to try it to my other very OLD computer which is running Lubuntu see I i can get the scanner running.  :) 8)

UPDATE: The steps mentioned were applied to LUBUNTU 16.04 and it was successful, I got my scanner working.

This is an update of my previous post.  After I did all those steps, the scanner didn't work.  Then I REBOOTED the computer and tried again XSANE software, there were error dialog boxes but when I pressed OK button it proceeded to its scanning dialog box and tried to scan a page and BINGO! it worked.  Next I tried Simple Scan.  It worked again.

So to @firenice03 and @rokytnjl  thank you for your help. God bless.

Cool - Glad to hear its sorted out  ;D ;D ;D

OK, so here is what I did:

rex@rex-EMX-MCP61M-iCafe:~$ sudo scanimage -L
[sudo] password for rex:
device `epkowa:usb:002:002' is a Epson (unknown model) flatbed scanner

then:

rex@rex-EMX-MCP61M-iCafe:~$ sudo apt-get install sane sane-utils libsane-extras xsane

So I think I installed sane-utils extras sane alright.  So per the instruction in http://askubuntu.com/questions/801142/scanner-epson-l210-for-ubuntu-16-04-is-now-working, I did this:

rex@rex-EMX-MCP61M-iCafe:~$ sudo gedit /etc/sane.d/dll.conf

and I edited /etc/sane.d/dll.conf and put # before epson2, then added a next line and typed epkowa .  Then I did this:

rex@rex-EMX-MCP61M-iCafe:~$ sudo xsane

and the result:

"Failed to open device 'epkowa:usb:002:002' : Invalid argument"

Then I edited /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf:
sudo gedit /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf

and looked for the line that has usb and I typed 0x04b8 0x08a1 after it, (this is what sane-find-scanner found) saved the file and exited.  Next I tried the scanner

rex@rex-EMX-MCP61M-iCafe:~$ sudo iscan

Scanner is still not working, so I am guessing it must be a bug in 'lsb' in L.L. 3.2 AND Lubuntu 16.04.

Curious as it looks to be denying permissions.. What if you try sudo?
Code: [Select]
sudo sane-find-scannerIt will look as root if it finds/works maybe permission related.. As described below??

http://askubuntu.com/questions/801142/scanner-epson-l210-for-ubuntu-16-04-is-now-working
See the highlighted below...

If  your  device  isn't  found  but  you  know  that  it  is  supported,  make  sure  that  it is detected by your operating system. For SCSI and USB scanners, use the
sane-find-scanner tool (see sane-find-scanner(1) for details). It prints one line for each scanner it has detected and some comments (#).
If  sane-find-scanner  finds  your  scanner  only  as  root but not as normal user, the permissions for the device files are not adjusted correctly. If the scanner isn't found at all, the operating
system hasn't detected it and may need some help. Depending on the type of your scanner, read sane-usb(5) or sane-scsi(5).  If your scanner (or other  device)  is  not
connected over the SCSI bus or USB, read the backend's manual page for details on how to set it up.

Just somethings I can find googling  ;) I'm more limited with Linux  :-[

Hi! If anyone can help me kindly do so.  I have a Epson L210 printer, that prints and scans ok in Window 7. My problem is when I tried and installed Linux Lite 3.2.  I am quite a familiar with Linux lite, Lubuntu, AntiX and some other Linux distros but I must say I am not an expert --more like a user I should say.  Anyway, I installed the linux (debian) drivers (inkjet driver and iscan bundle driver for scanner) of the aforementioned printer I got from Epson.  The printer driver works great, I can print.  Problem is the scanner.  Surfing the net I found an advice and did sane-find-scanner:

$ sane-find-scanner

(and this is the result):
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.

could not open USB device 0x1d6b/0x0002 at 001:001: Access denied (insufficient permissions)
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x08a1 [EPSON L210 Series]) at libusb:002:002
could not open USB device 0x1d6b/0x0001 at 002:001: Access denied (insufficient permissions)
  # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
  # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.

  # Not checking for parallel port scanners.

  # Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
  # can't be detected by this program.

  # You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. Once you
  # found the scanner devices, be sure to adjust access permissions as
  # necessary.

I connected this printer/scanner on two desktops, one running Linux Lite 3.2 and the other Lubuntu 16.04 (LTS) and the scanner drivers did not work on both machines.

I have already downloaded the latest driver iscan-bundle-1.0.2.x86.deb.tar.gz (32bit) which has:
    1. core (iscan.2.30.2-2_i386.deb)
    2. data (iscan-data_1.37.0-3_all.deb)
    3. plugin (iscan-network-nt_1.1.1-1_i386.deb)

And yes I already read the links (http://askubuntu.com/questions/783227/how-to-install-epson-l210-scanner-in-ububtu-16-04 and http://askubuntu.com/questions/724323/how-to-install-epson-l210-scanner) and have followed the instructions on how to install (./install.sh in terminal) but the scanner still didn't do anything when I opened ImageScan for Linux.

Like I said earlier, I am not an expert on Linux so I am quite confused what is that I did wrong.  Anyone who wants to help me I'd be grateful.
