I'm trialling a new, more detailed Download page, as far as some basic statistics go.
I'm using the Sourceforge API directly so the data should be 100% correct after each update.

Hello to everybody, i'm Cesar and i installed Linux Lite 2 months ago, it's very useful for me because i migrated from windows ( from 95 to 7, i hate the news versions) decided start with this OS for start using a simple version that reminds me the xp.

Anyway, i was reading and i saw videos to install an antivirus in Linux, maybe i don't need it, i know, but i prefer be prevent for any case, so i downloaded  the Clam av antivirus, i put the command "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade -y" everything normal at this point, but when i decide scan a directory , in my case "sudo clamscan -r /home/cesar" i get this message:

----------- SCAN SUMMARY -----------

Graphical update failed for me today. on

Code:
System:    Host: misohorny1 Kernel: 4.4.0-linuxlite i686 (32 bit)           Desktop: Xfce 4.11.8 Distro: Ubuntu 14.04 trusty

So I first opened synaptic and selected fix broken packages. Even though nothing showed broken at the bottom of the synaptic window box. Next. Close down synaptic. Then I opened a terminal and did

Code:
sudo apt-get update

Let it finish. Then

Code:
sudo apt-get -f install harry@misohorny1:~$ sudo apt-get -f install Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree      Reading state information... Done Correcting dependencies... Then double check for errors

Hopefully fixed now. Not feeling like a reinstall or a upgrade to a later Linux-Lite version yet. Just showing how I handled this bug report

Seems to be a Nvidia bug. Anyways. I hope I fixed it.
Code:

Use this or not at your own risk.

Hi. i recently installed LL on a toshiba satellite laptop ( about 5-6 yrs old) . About 15-20% of the time it is slow after bootup. This is straight afterwards & before i actually start trying to do anything. The cursor movement is jittery (i use a usb mouse) & there is noticeable hesitation on opening any aps. The last time it did this (just now) i opened task manager to see what was running. All the processes showed 0% cpu usage (except task mang.) but the graph &  % caption at the top showed overall cpu usage at around 50%. i can tell by the fan usage that work was being done.  It doesn't go away if i leave it. So far if i restart it sorts itself out & overall cpu% drops to 10-30%. it used to do this when it ran Win 10 but i thought it was all the background aps that caused it then, hard to tell.  I know it the symptoms are rather vague but has anyone any idea were i might start in tracking this down?

I am trying to assign a key combination for swiching between input languages. I put an iBus icon in the notification area and opened the settings:
Originally there was a code named space (Alt+space bar). I deleted it and then I wanted to add Ctrl+Shift combination but nothing happened. The application just gets stuck at the window asking to press and release new combination. What am I missing/doing wrong?

I'm relatively new to Linux and still learning the terminal magic. My question is about the terminal(s) in my system - which one ssould I use if curently I have three installed: Xterm, UXTerm and LXTerminal (Root Terminal doesn't count, I assume. It's still the the LXT, right?). Why does the system install them all? The difference betwen them? And the preferred one?

Upon a normal waking from Suspend the following:

desktop icons with fuzzy black text

text missing from panel – when cursor passed over a launcher, text box opens but blank

date and time & calendar blank

opening Menu - icons show but not icon text

Backups application window open but text (“Restore” etc. ) only appears when pointer passes over.

Firefox and Thunderbird appeared to be without these problems.

Resolved by re-starting and selected the same session.

I had this or very similar recently, but I put that down to not having the external monitor powered up before waking the computer. On this occasion the monitor was powered up well beforehand.

I have an all Linux dual-boot set-up, with, of course, Linux Lite as my main daily driver.

To save disc space I would like both systems to share a single swap partition, but to do this safely I would like to disable hibernate and remove it from the power options (I have already removed hibernate from the log out menu through Lite Tweaks).

I found the following tutorial online -

https://sites.google.com/site/easytipsfo...nd-suspend

- but could not get it to work. I have also found many similar tutorials to this one, with one or two variations, but have found that none of them work either.

I have also tried using both the /etc and /var directories and the  ”localauthority/50-local.d/ ”  folder for the hack, but still no luck.

So, does anyone have a strategy for achieving the same result (disable hibernate/ remove from power options) but in a clear and easy to follow tutorial for an intermediate Linux user like me?

If such an alternative strategy/tutorial exists and works, I might even consider creating separate swap files for my Linux Lite 3.6 install and my other dual-boot OS since this seems to be the general direction of travel for swap in Linux since the release of Ubuntu 17.04.

Hi all,

Most will probably know that with Firefox version 57, expected to be released on 14 Oct 2017, the LEGACY Addons, which everyone relies on, will no longer work (marked LEGACY in the 'Tools/Add-ons' menu view. The extensions are expected to be replaced by a new approach, but so far, the number of replacements is not looking good.

Since for years the whole strategy of Firefox has been to rely on the Addons, to create a usable, configurable modern browser, without them, it will turn Firefox into a very basic browser overnight, and will be like turning a fully functioning word-processor into notebook.

It may be that there will be a last minute surge of equivalent new Adons, or it may cause some to change to another browser, if they haven’t already done so, and many of those may choose a browser that supports Firefox Addons, such as Pale Moon etc.

The point is after 14 Oct 2017 the LEGACY Addons will not be made available, as a matter of policy.
And software browsers that are compatible with Firefox, such as Pale Moon, require Firefox and its Addons to be installed (addons and compatible version), which will be zapped by the version 57 update. Note that 'Add Bookmark Here2' has already become incompatible with version 56.

So the question is, how do you stop individual package, such as Firefox being updated, when you periodically select to install updates?

Thank You in Advance
