They say better late than never ...
well, at least I have an excuse that my first days with linuxlite (and Linux) was some sort of hard.....
and now after only 2 weeks I am even helping people solve basic problems ... even that I liked this forum so much that I decided never to leave it...even if I left all Linux(very impossible)
anyway, lets make it ordinary again ...
I am MohammedKhaled .. a man from Egypt ... studies all his primary years in an international school in KSA .. which made him a little bit exceptional (or maybe that's his ego) loves English even more than how he loves people.... even that he talks with himself in English .... a fast learner that loves tech ... especially android and mobiles ..(that's why I am familiar with many concepts in Linux) .. o
ok at last ..even that it's just my first month .. am so willing to help and I can help you with anything in Linux(not code related) ... I am active almost all on the day .. and thanks
Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life!
I wanted to list files/folders in a directory with
lsls: unrecognized option «--color [»
Any help/advice is really appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
By the way, since my system is in Spanish I translated the error message so I don't know if that's what you'll see in English.
Hello.
When ever a program starts a documentation, which, I suppose, is coded in HTML, no longer a web browser starts but the html editor Bluefish. So I'm also not able to load the Help for Linux Lite.
I think it's something with this alternatives system, but I do not know how to fix it.
I’m wiping an 3-5 yr old Dell that was running Win 10 (donated to me with this OS). I have it as the youth who was using it ran into a problem, likely a virus, so he now has one of the other donated computers running Linux Lite 3.4
My question is do I put LL 3.4 on this one or move up to 3.6? Or even another flavour? This computer has RAM 3G and HD 500 GB. ALL the other donated laptops I’m setting up with youth are running LL 3.4 so am wondering if there’s any good reason to do anything different..?
Thanks in advance,
Janet (in South Africa doing volunteer work with youth)
Just acquired a Zoostorm desktop, the owner was going to throw it out.
All it needed was a good cleanout and the Ram reseated.
Installing LL 3.6 on it now..... 8) .

as a user of momentum .... a chrome extension ... I am used to starting my day with a new wallpaper and a motto .... but today I found a motto I didn't understand ... so I googled it .... and once I understood it ... I liked it so much that I wrote it on my wall ...

I was putting up with choppy videos for a while on fullcreen Youtube 720p60 1080p60 videos in Firefox.
I have 2 x 4k, 28" Screens.
This also worked for 2160p 4k Youtube content
Today I found the solution:
1. Put about:config into Firefox's address bar and hit enter.
2. Search for layers.acceleration.force-enabled
3. When this value comes up, double click the word false under the value column to change it to true
4. Restart Firefox.
FYI, in Chrome I experienced no such issues.
Hurrah, no more chop!

is there a way I can install windows in it aside Linuxlite ... I need windows to run an app I need in work ... it doesn't support Linux nor works with wine ... if I clicked this button will Linux be deleted ...? I don't want this to happen .. I want Linux lite as my main os and windows as my secondary os
i KNOW THIS HAS BEEN ASKED, BUT READING THE OTHER POSTS, I STILL CAN'T DO IT.
i DOWNLOADED AND EXTRACTED, BUT WHEN I RIGHT CLICK AND EXECUTE, NOTHING HAPPENS.
i AM TRYING TO DOWNLOAD THIS PROGRAM.
https://zoom.us/download?os=linux
DOWNLOADED AND EXTRACTED... TRIED MULTIPLE LOCATIONS.
I WISH IT WAS IN SYNAPTIC!
I REALLY DON'T KNOW TERMINAL, SO I NEED A TRUE STEP-BY-STEP. EVEN SOME OF THOSE MAKE NO SENSE TO ME, OR DON'T WORK.
TRIED TO POST THE SCREENSHOTS, BUT IMAGE FILES ARE NOT SUPPORTED FOR THESE POSTS.
WHAT AM I MISSING?

some of us don't even know if their computers are 32bit or 64bit so they just install 32bit ... cool but only if you want to use only 90% of your system power ... on another side who would install a 1 gig file just to make sure that they are 64 bit or not ..... well you can easily find if your CPU is capable of running 64bit OSs or not by running the following command
sudo dmidecode -t processor
cheers
