It will be possible update from inside Linux Lite 6.6 for Linux Lite 6.7 or 7.x?
Posted by: Carlos Bernardino - 10-25-2023, 11:23 PM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (3)

Hello!

I have one doubt that I want to ask.

The update of Linux Lite 6.6 for Linux Lite 6.7 can be made using one updater inside the Operating System Linux 6.6? The same ask for Linux 7.x?

I don't have many resources to buy some USB Flash Drives and thanks to this distribution I give another life for the PC of my mother!

Thank you very much for reading and if is possible an answer!

Regards!

Secure Boot is more Slow in Kernel 6.6 than in Windows 10
Posted by: Carlos Bernardino - 10-25-2023, 11:05 PM - Forum: UEFI Secure Boot - Replies (3)

Hello guys, how are you?

I only want to inform you that my Linux Lite 6.6 is very slow when booting. Compared with Windows 10, the time that I must wait is more or less double the time compared with Windows 10.

But the apps are quicker in Linux Lite 6.6 than in Windows 10! In Windows 10 it was really very slow or 10x of time!

I only want to give my feedback about this situation with the Secure Boot and know if this is happening with anyone here!

This Linux Lite 6.6 is used every day by my mother and is now adapted to Linux Lite 6.6 because Windows 10 was very slow, taking 15 minutes to open the browser Google Chrome.

In conclusion, I'm very satisfied with this Linux Lite 6.6 and my mother too!

Congratulations to the people who do this distribution!

Thank you very much!

Best Regards!

MS Edge asks me for keyring password every time I launch it.

I had a blank password so I wouldn't see any message when I opened the browser. Now I see one after every boot. It doesn't matter that I leave it blank.

  Popup for language change
Posted by: amigo - 10-21-2023, 12:10 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (14)

I deleted Public and Template folders.
Now I'm getting a pop up that reads:"Update Standard Folders to Current Language
You have logged in in a new language.
You can automatically update the names of some standard folders in your home folder to match this language.
The update would change the following folders. Popups    Templates.
Note that existing content will not be moved.
Keep Old Names    or    Update Names"Now my google password isn't accepted?
Have I been hacked or did I mess something up? I'm 78 so anything is possible.
Note: I logged in on a second laptop and the popup was in what looked to be an oriental language.
Thank you.
Amigo

  Dockbar Size / Heigh
Posted by: Stephen Espx - 10-20-2023, 02:02 AM - Forum: Suggestions and Feedback - Replies (1)

Hi Guys,
I'm newbies in linux and found out Linux Lite and  I think I'll love this Distro

I hope you don't mind if I post what  I was thinking in my first login :
1. what do you think if the height of dockbar a little bit more taller
2. The Default menu font size, I think it's a little bit too thicker
but the Idea how the menu was organized is very very  Cool :045: for newbies I'm really really love the file manager way  :048:

If you allow me to post, next time I'll write you what I see in this Distro and hopefully it can make some contribution for you, but once again I'm newbies so please forgive me if I'm wrong  and sorry for my bad English.

Thanks for the this Amazing Distro

  security password
Posted by: mark stevenson - 10-14-2023, 03:34 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (4)

Hi All, new here and confused. :59:

i downloaded and installed linuxlite onto my laptop. I'll be honest I'm hopeless at computers and generally don't use the laptop.

Today I fired it up to play around with it and i noticed that CHROME was requiring an update. Naturally I clicked the "update" icon and whilst it downloaded fine enough; I found, to my dismay, that I was expected to enter a password for the update to be installed.

The application requesting the password seems to be some sort of linus download/install manager.

As I say, I don't generally bother with the laptop as my efforts online are like that of most and can easily be handled with my phone.

My question is this- Does anyone know how I can change the password or do away with it all together?

Thanks to anyone with any advice/gets in touch.

  Had a issue installing updates
Posted by: Goof Ball - 10-14-2023, 01:27 PM - Forum: Other - No Replies

Hi, wasnt sure where to put this so im putting it here.

Be aware im new to linux been using windows 20+ years but decided to shift over to linux, so the problem i was having was installing updates i kept getting a message saying 'dpkg was interrupted, you must run 'dpkg -configure -a to correct the problem.'  Well that in itself is a problem and the reason for this post that command didnt work because it was meant to be '--' not '-' 20 minutes of life are now gone figuring that one out Smile, so id post this incase someone else who's new to linux might have the same problem
