Hi
I want to learn more about Linux in general!
I've been (and still Am) a Windows user until I discovered LL which gave a new life to my old laptop some time ago, after I bought a new one with Win10 (8GB RAM, i5core CPU,Nvidia bla bla bla).
My old laptop (the one I'm writing this now) is 11 years now so I have to thank the developers of Linux in general and LL in particular for providing a OS for a machine that otherwise would be useless.
I'm not a computer geek, just a simple user so Linux (terminal/command lines) are very confusing.
With that in mind what free ebooks recommendations would you guys suggest so I can improve my skills with linux.
Download links would be appreciated.
Thank You
An update appeared to be removing VLC. I reinstalled VLC, but then after reboot, I couldn't get to the login screen. Using the command line, I went to a systemback restore from a month ago. I ran updates again, and saved the log. VLC is being removed. See the attached log file.
Hey
I just created a Firefox account (I have a Google/Chrome one for my other home laptop ) since I'm using the browser more now mainly at work.
Was wondering if being logged-on with the Sync option on increases browser RAM usage.
I ask this because I only have 2GB of RAM on the laptop I use Firefox.
Thank you
hey guys. im more and more wanting to be an beta tester. been wanting to see if i can even get nightly firefox working in Lite.
I am the ultimate Linux newbie. I managed to install Linux Lite on my old Toshiba Satellite
A105 and connected my old scanner to it (CanoScan N670U), but found that using Simple Scan caused the computer to freeze. It had only a total of 1GB memory installed, so I upgraded it to the maximum - 2GB, and installed SANE, but it would scan only part of a page of text when set for "Color". When I set SANE for "Text" it started scanning, then the computer froze, just as with Simple Scan. The version of Linux Lite on the computer is 3.2 (I run the upgrade utility whenever I use this computer.)
Is the problem that there is still not enough memory for scanning to function on this old laptop, or is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks for any help.
I can't seem to log in on my blogger page from this device. So I've been searching for solutions on the Internet and found BloGTK. The last update is very outdated and the original site is not accessible.
Are there any Bloggers here who allready cracked this nut??
My menu have been tvisted left is to right not a big prob but i wander what i have done and how to change it back to orginal
I've been running up and down the Networks posts, but couldn't find what I'm looking for.
After starting my device, wired and wireless connection look great.
Wired connection disconnects after a few minutes and when I remove and attach the cable, all works fine for some time.
Wireless looks good until I open my browser or any other connection needing program. It disconnects and I can't connect until I reboot.
I want to solve this. I know I can, but I need some help with it
Hi all!
After trying to get the most out of an old Windows Vista Laptop. There was nothing left to do then to start searching for another OS. For this laptop is an oldy, I found that Linux Lite was the best option for this device.
I have totally zero experience with Linux, so here I am on an unknown part of the digital world. 8)
I've been searching for different Howto's, but there are a lot of different views for the same problem.
So, that's why I signed-up here.
That's why I'm here.
To learn a lot share a lot, and maybe call myself a pro, some day
Hi
For months I have been testing various distros, most are very much the same, I was anti Ubuntu derivatives until I tried Linux Lite. I am really impressed so far, nothing has failed or caused an issue and it feels right. Well done to the developers, a really nice OS.
