Trying to trim-down my growing menu, and bumped into a few snags.

*Add new -  weird problem after adding new program123 -  appears OK in the editor, but hit the Start button and there are 5 new program123 !!!
Re-run the editor and delete the 'clones' and it looks OK.
*However, new package install- Installed WINE & IrfanView - menu had 2 dozen! clones ???  Plus it added 6 IrfanView icons to the desktop !.    Also installed proftpd - nothing appeared in menu.

*Add new sub-folder - How is that done ?    I like sub-folders for "NeverUsed" "DOA" and such.
*Delete -  Does it actually delete the item-launcher-file, or simply remove the menu entry ?
*Move - up&down in that folder works - move to another folder ?  How?

Google says; drag&drop a launcher to the menu,,,,  to where ?
Any help is appreciated.

I have a machine that refuses to remove the Hibernate and Suspend buttons from the shutdown dialog after setting them both to hide via Lite Tweaks.

Is there some other way to accomplish this? It wouldn't work in LL 3.6 and I just upgraded to LL 3.8 and it still doesn't appear to work.

However I do have several machines to it works completely fine on... I'm hoping for a manual way to this, maybe editing a file somewhere...

Dear all,
I just installed linux lite 3.38 32 bit on my old laptop. Installation went fine. After installation I started for the first time, and everything worked out-of-box. I restarted system and now I'm stuck on splash screen, without option to go to the console mode.  When I choose in the grub to start  4.4.0-112-generic (upstart) I can reach console, and from there with startx  i'm getting GUI.
I have no idea how to solve the issue.

Salut TheDead!
J'ai lu ceci dans un de tes réçents posts:

Quote:Took the time to upgrade the BIOS, just in case.

Hi.

If installing Libre Office (any OS) as not part of OS, there would nomally be a shortcut named ust "Libre Office" without starting with any template. That opens a sort of "start screen" that show thumbnails of most recent documents.

To get here using the Libre Office that follow the OS install, I first have to navigate the menu and find Office New Document (or spreadshet or presentation), and from then I must close the document template to get where I can see the thumbnails screen.

My question:

[edit while still not posted]
Just figured it out.

Right click desktop New launcher  in field command, just type "libreoffice" and it works  ;D

That is the solution for the problem...

Hello,

unsure if its the correct section, the bash section says for tutorials and code, and it is a question so I was not sure.

Just starting with this section of book (Linux Bible), here is the screenshot of the PATH echo in LL 3.2

The first 2 and the last 1 in the PATH there are no bin folders here.

It is saying in the book to add your own commands or shell scripts to the

Code:
/home/bitsnpcs/bin

as it is checking left to right, so it would be first checked.

Should I just make this folder, are bin folders made the same way as other folders or does it need anything special done to it ?
Or is there a more preferred location ?

Yet another question!

I had this same issue when this computer was running Win XP and I applied a fix in Win XP at that time (I've forgotten exactly what it was, however moot point as now it's running LL 3.4).

I tried the suggestions in this link: https://cederlys.wordpress.com/2010/07/1...in-ubuntu/

I went through the steps it mentioned and got the info on my pointer:
AlpsPS/2 ALPS DualPoint Stick id=12 so I put the necessary info from this line into the line he states in his blog.

There was NO change, in fact it seemed worse.  Regardless of whether I use a USB mouse or the trackpad at times the pointer works fine then suddenly it will drift off to the upper left and sit in the corner and not budge.  I'm unable to get it to move either with the external mouse or the track pad.  It will remain unresponsive for a minute or so then return to normal function.  It's liveable albeit annoying  Wink

Any suggestions?

I did make a system report early this morning although I'm unsure whether it uploaded to the database.  I saved it on the computer and if it will provide any info I can add it to this thread.

Well,

I bit off more than I could chew on. But that's quite normal for one who want's to go to fast when he just learned how to walk.

Okay, what's the problem...

Like my older posts, I'm still triyng to figure out how to get my wifi up and running on my laptop on LL3.8

I did some searching here and there. Tried some possible solutions untill yesterday when I stumbled upon one that told me about Kernel 4.12.
So, as noob as I am. downloaded and installed it. restarted my laptop and BAM!
No connection or what so ever.

So, now I'm on my Windows desktop writing this post. This one is next to go cold-turkey and meet LL. But first solve some problems.

If there's anyone amongst you who would/can make some time to give me a step-by-step instruction for this matter, he/she would make me a very happy man.
