Hi All,

I just installed Linux Lite 3.2 on my old HP Pvaillion DV5 machine which was running Windows Vista.  I have a Nvidia G98M Geforce 9200M GS graphics card.  I used to connect my Sansung Tv via HDMI and it would detect it and work well with Vista. However with Linux Lite, the TV gives No Signal error.

When I go in display settings, I can see the Samsung Electric Company 50" detected as a display device. 1920x1080 @ 60hz selected. I can choose the display but i don't get a signal in the TV.

Following are the things I have already tried, without any luck:

1) installed NVIDIA 340 driver from Install drivers option
2) After installation when I go to NVIDIA Xserver settings, i don't see any displays, it just shows me two options:
a) Application Profiles
b) nvidia -configuration settings
3) I have tried installing Nvidia driver through command line
I also updated the Grub file and GFX mode settings to remember the preferred settings of 1920x1080x60
4) I tried installing Arandr, that also shows both displays but does not send the signal

I am not sure what I need to do to have the hdmi send signal to my TV. I am attaching xrandr output for your reference

Code:
aj@MediaPC:~$ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3200 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192 LVDS-1 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 331mm x 207mm   1280x800      60.02*+   1024x768      59.92    800x600      59.86    640x480      59.38    720x400      59.55    640x400      59.95    640x350      59.77  VGA-1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) HDMI-1 connected primary 1920x1080+1280+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 160mm x 90mm   1920x1080    60.00 +  59.94    30.00    24.00*  29.97    23.98    1920x1080i    60.00    59.94    1680x1050    59.88    1600x900      60.00    1280x1024    75.02    60.02    1440x900      59.90    1366x768      59.79    1280x800      59.91    1152x864      75.00    1280x720      60.00    59.94    1024x768      75.08    70.07    60.00    832x624      74.55    800x600      72.19    75.00    60.32    720x480      60.00    59.94    640x480      75.00    72.81    66.67    60.00    59.94    720x400      70.08

Howdy good folks,

This may come under the heading SEP (Someone Else's Problem) but I thought I would try here first, them move on.

So, I was following these instructions, to install LL 4.0 on to a USB Flash drive:  https://www.tecmint.com/install-linux-os-on-usb-drive/
Things went fine, but slow during install, once I booted it up, all looked well, but then I tried to update it and received the following:

My other LL 4.0 updates fine, but even after several reboots thisd USB install keeps showing the above.
I can ping that address just fine, though.

Any Ideas?

I recently downloaded vidcutter since I was in need of a video cutter software.I downloaded it and installed it but when I run it a window briefly  appears then disappears.  Any ideas why it isn't working?  I think its for a 64 instead of a 32 machine but I figured if that were true then the install/remove software program wouldn't allow it.  I feel like I'm missing something here.  Any suggestions are welcomed....thanks in advance.

So I recently installed Linux Lite 4.0 on a machine with an ASUS Xonar DXG PCI-e sound card in it.

Now the card is detected properly, and while the jacks on the front panel work as expected, connecting to the rear panel resulted in no audio.

Now I know that under Windows the Xonar utilities require you to select either the front or rear panel, so I kinda expected this under Linux too.

However the Volume Control only shows one available port for the device (Headphones), I was expecting to see Headphones, Headphones FP, and Multichannel.

Anyone have any clues on how to get this working?

* Did a little digging, and apparently running alsamixer in the terminal, pressing F6, selecting the Xonar, and then changing the Analog Output to use Multichannel got the rear panel working, but these settings are not saved, so I have to change them every time I boot. Is there a way to save this configuration?

You want to shutdown me? Who do you think will miss something, you or me?

You want to boot me up? I knew it'd be you who miss something!

Now while we are at it, let me help you by downloading 30Gb of unnecessary sh*t
to your hard drive, while you can't do anything about it, except feel me... becoming
slow and smooth... - for you.

Can you do some work now? Oh, I forgot, I must install these too.. Can you wait an hour?
Installed, must reboot now, sorry for your work, but without ME, there wouldn't be any.
So, now that you rebooted, I have time to "configure" these new packages without you
interrupting me. So sorry that your thesis got destroyed last time, won't happen again.
After all, you can always write those 32 pages again.

Booting up again? I knew you'd need me motherf*cker! Why don't you sit tight 2 hours
while I prepare these new updates!

Back again, huh? I have news for you. There is an upgrade package waiting for downloading
and installation. And I'm truly sorry some of your applications won't work any more after that but
those are important updates and your sad apps will go by default.

So, are you ready to upgrade now or shall I auto-upgrade when you reboot?

Do you want personal advertisements or ads which are random? Yes or no?
Do you want me to send all of your personal information, metadata of all of your
files, all of your network activity, all of your contacts etc. directly to some authorities
or do you want me to send only partial information, yes or no?
(Stupid user, I'll send everything anyway).

By the way, accept this Legal Agreement!
Do you agree these 200 pages of Legal Text or not? You should say Yes if
you want to use this piece of crap machine ever again!

Cool, there is a new upgrade waiting to be downloaded, configured and
installed,... man I love to live in his hard drive! I don't pay rent, he pays
my rent if he cares about his system at all.

And I am the one who prevents malicious software to be installed on
his hard drive - where do these people come from?
