| Love LL!...will I be happy enough with Ubuntu 18.04 for 2 years on a new laptop? |

Getting ready to order a new laptop , it comes with Ubuntu pre-installed and since i will be purchasing extended warranty and support for 2 years I will need to keep Ubuntu for that time frame until I can install LL. Thus, my query...since I LOVE LL, and it is based on Ubuntu, will I be satisfied with using Ubuntu for that time frame? I know I could NOT have used W10 for 2 years! Am I making a mistake?
Don't know if this is pertinent/needed for a reply...the laptop is a Dell XPS 13 Developer edition that can be ordered with Ubuntu (not a developer, just want the specs). 8th Gen i5, 8GB, 256 SSD, very small and lightweight for travel. Purchased a low priced desktop with good specs previously and immediately installed LL, didn't care about the warranty with a low price, but this will be different...way more $'s.

Well it might not be a good news for everyone but i hope not .
After almost giving up on my laptop because of it lagging extremely even on lubuntu 32bit (like wtf it requires 256mb ram)
i decided to buy a 2gb stick of ram just for testing and boom the system worked amazingly that i even decided to try 64bit windows 7 which took more ram but boosted my CPU as well so that ram upgrade was really worth it anyway, after the new 4.0 LL update i definitely had to come back especially that now i get to taste the whole Linux experience and after trying almost every Linux OS i understood why everyone prefers xfce , and whats the best xfce Linux OS i know , you got it
anyway leave you from that i hope that everything here is fine and that you all are having good time i think that the new 4.0 announcement thread is the best of all announcement and i hope that you can forgive me if i intentionally or not disturbed you may we start a new page and well , LETS MAKE IT A HECK OF A PAGE. 8) 8)

| ALSA config switch for LibreOffice |

I'm script automating several items to use LibreOffice Calc from the terminal, successfully, but with one caveat. I get the ALSA library error when using the LL system sounds. I like the system sounds to be used, but I need a script for turning it off or on when Calc is started from the terminal. Either will work. A sample of the script is below. If I completely turn off system sounds it runs without errors. I want the syetm sounds to keep working. It would be nice to change the ALSA permissions for LibreOffice somehow.
#!/bin/bash
wget -q -P /home/user/test/temp/ "https://www.someapi.co/query?function=TI...tatype=csv"
libreoffice --calc /home/user/test/temp/* .csv
Update: I am getting a 3617 error for Alsa which essentially points to an incomplete installation. I'm guessing LO Calc is only partially installed.

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life!
Well, I finally managed to get this Icon Theme almost perfect. There's still a couple of things I haven't been able to figure out how to solve yet, but so far so good! I started a post back then in February https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/deskt...con-theme/ and there I spoke about some icons sizes being too big. Now, with a few exceptions most icons sizes are fine. Check it out:
![[Image: 35be59x.jpg]](http://i63.tinypic.com/35be59x.jpg)
But like I said, there's a couple of things I have yet to solve
![[Image: 5f5co2.jpg]](http://i67.tinypic.com/5f5co2.jpg)
AS you can see, some icons for the right click context menu are too big.
While for some apps like mousepad, icons for dialog boxes are quite big too
![[Image: s1i1aa.jpg]](http://i64.tinypic.com/s1i1aa.jpg)
Also, I noticed mimetypes are not showed as they should, for instance, compressed files look like this
![[Image: avxvc.jpg]](http://i65.tinypic.com/avxvc.jpg)
But it should be something like this. They used to but since last modifications I made to the icon set they don't now .

If anyone has any idea, suggestions, they'll be more than welcome
Thanks!
