Hi Gang
I am an M.S. Asylum seeker refugee
I have been using Linux for couple of years now from Zorin through to Linux Mint 19 @ the mo.
I'm starting to get reasonably comfortable with 'Advanced' Newbies stuff (if I say so myself :/ )
Anyway, I'm checking out Very System and User Friendly distros for my Brother who is a New Linux User and MS'xiter
This is the MOST impressive one that I've come across for It's 'User' and 'Hardware' Friendly'iness.
LITE is 'Simply' GREAT. ;D
But that was until the next morning when I was settling into using it myself for a while, and all was fine until,
I decided to do an Install Updates which failed due to the following error report.
I'm currently using various Multiple Boot distro. options from different media until I finally settle down with the one of my choice.
This is the error report notification that I receive as follows.
ps
I expect that it's some sort of 'Silly' that I have done :-\
I hope that is enough detail for someone to see the problem?
Thanking You in Anticipation of a positive response.

HEY, BREAKING NEWS!
I have gone through the error report now, A LITTLE MORE LOGICALLY & METHODICALLY.
As I should have done earlier I'm afraid to admit.
& resolved the problem.
The problem was actually one last thing on the error report.
in retrospect and maybe a bit too obvious :/
'http://linux.teamviewer.com/deb stable InRelease' is not signed. repository.
and software dependant on the "TEAMVIEWER" function to be included in the update(s) repositories.
Unfortunately I couldn't see how or where to mark my post as having been resolved/repaired,
so I just added this last bit onto the original one, at the end in the hope that everyone will see it.
I'm sure I added an erroneous software resource and it's requirements inadvertently
Thank You everyone.

Hi guys!
I'm Matt and I've been a heavy Windows user for years but three days ago i just got really annoyed with how things where going in Microsoft's universe so i installed this distro of Linux (just because it looks awesome). I don't know anything about Linux, I've never used it before so from time to time i might need someones help
. But form my three days of experience i have to say that i like this system and i hope that i won't have go back to the awful system that is Windows 10.
Hi, all,
Just a heads up at the moment, and a bare bones description until I can spend a bit more time explaining the problem and researching it. This is on a production laptop, so until I can update my test laptop you can understand my reluctance to test it again! But I'll research online and go through the log files.
Basic description of problem: (After a file copy operation in Thunar) Upon ejecting a USB stick using the left menu column eject icon in Thunar, the mouse cursor changes to busy and then system immediately goes into complete freeze requiring a hard reset. After boot, the last file written to the hard drive manually (in this case a text file containing verification SHA256 values I calculated on the USB stick file copies) is 0 bytes in size. Causes no known problems in the linux build on the laptop and does not corrupt the files on the USB stick.
Problem occurs immediately following update from 20181019 4.4.0-136-generic # 162 to OS below (both LL3.8). However one USB stick had ejected fine after a copy FROM usb (i.e., without writing to the USB stick) - so the issue may be restricted to a specific make and size or to write to usb operations.
OS version: (LL3.8) Linux linux01 4.4.0-140-generic #166-Ubuntu SMP Wed Nov 14 20:09:47 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Thunar version: 1.6.11
Unaffected USB stick (read from only): KINGSTON DataTraveller G4 64GB (brand new).
Affected USB sticks (two separate ones after write to, but having performed flawlessly for over 30 cycles each): KINGSTON DataTraveller G4 16GB.
Not tested ejecting USB stick from terminal or partition drives menu option.
Having booted the laptop after each freeze with the USB stick still physically connected and manually re-verifying the SHA256 values of the files on both the HD and USB (which were correct), the USB stick ejected without problem from Thunar - which suggests to me the issue is related to copying files from HD to USB via Thunar.
Haven't tried copying files from HD to USB stick from terminal.
Thanks for reading.
As if today, the majority of feedback I see about our theme and icon choice is that people are liking it in Series 4.x.
In pursuit of consistency and convergence, the main website (and other parts including the Forums) will seek to see a familiar theme standard throughout.
This design looks incredible on mobile devices and tablets and will certainly put us out front in terms of looks and impact in the linux community.
The new website will be searchable.
Here is a quick, very early taste of the what the future main website could look like.

There is still A LOT of work to be done and the above is far from finished. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the pursuit of ensuring that all Linux Lite branding and look is consistent, from OS through to our many online presences.
Kernel: 4.15.0-38-generic x86_64
Hardware: Dell latitude 7270
OS: Linux Lite 4.2
I've had this problem with my current distro of Linux Lite 4.2 and with a prior distro of Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia. When I connect my HDMI cable to my TV, it's not detected by the computer. Then I learned that you have to boot with the HDMI cable already plugged in. I do see the DELL logo while in the POST, but after that the image on the TV fades and it goes back to my laptop and shows me the log in screen. After logging in, the computer doesn't detect the TV. I'm even able to see GRUB on the TV if I access it. But when it tries to load the Linux OS, the image switches from displaying on the TV to the laptop screen.
Also tried booting from other live distros, with no luck.
I've read on other forums that I have to switch between some nVidia video drivers, but I don't think that applies to my configuration because my video card is from Intel, and the BIOS has no video settings I can play with to switch drivers.
On this thread it was suggested to update to kernel 4.15.18-041518-generic, which didn't work for me.

This is a problem report, has anyone suffered issue of Chromium hanging up the system? The system actually does not exactly hang but seems to slow down to a point where mouse pointer, even though moving, is practically unresponsive. Sometimes it is possible to unhang the system on a laptop closing up the lid and opening again, which forces sleep mode in my set of settings, therefore through forcing the system to enter sleep mode, then waking it again. The sleep mode does not kick in oftentimes at once, several attempts are required, but even if it does unhang the system per exiting the sleep mode, it will hang up again after some time, eventually suggesting a reboot or at least a relogin. Is it actually Chromium or something else? I had noticed similar effect when starting GPU heavy games without having properly configured GPU unit, resulting in overload, therefore this seems to be the case of some kind of overload. What does it overload with? Linux does not freeze like WindowsOS used to, but it is either way significantly troublesome situation, especially that it is cyclic. On a sidenote, I do not typically shut down the system when I am not using it, just closing the lid and thus turning on sleep mode, neither do I particularly ever close the web browser, having couple of dozen tabs open simultaneously, nonetheless they are at idle if not initiated, confirmed with [SHIFT+ESC] Chromium task manager. There is no pattern that would come to my notice regarding the type of websites it hangs up on.
during install on another computer (I want dual boot - "Something else") the actual partition sda3 is ntfs formatted. It has 12Gb, about 10gb used.
Looking at gParted in the live iso sda3 is "Recovery image".
Question 1: I have backups of the Windows 7 data and system on external drive. Do I need to retain this "sda3 NTFS Recovery Image" in order to continue using the Windows 7 partition, or can I safely install LL 4.0 in sda3 ?
Computer is a HP Elitebook.
Assuming I do not need to retain "recovery image" ....
... during install (dry run) when I select dev/sda3 > Change, I get options as per manual, ie Use as: ext4etc; Format; mount point: / I also get SIZE: 12000 with - +
Question 2: is this + where I increase the Partition to the size I want, eg 50gb ?
It's well over a year since I did a dual boot install from scratch, I don't remember it being like this.
Thanks for the excellent help I know I'll get shortly.
Is there any need to close private files when going online? Just how secure is the LL installed firewall?
I don't expect Brave to become preinstalled with Linux Lite. But I would like to see it considered as a Default Browser option.
I have been using it on my Linux Lite laptop and mobile devices for the past several weeks in lieu of Chrome. I like how fast it is, the installed adblocker, the fact that it is based on Chromium, and that it was started by the co-founder of Mozilla, the maker of Firefox. I have been a Chrome user, but the resource usage with Brave Browser running is much lower. Brave Browser on my mobile phone performs better than the default browsers there. The only downside I see with Brave so far is that, for now, it does not synchronize bookmarks from my laptop to my mobile device.
