xfce4-goodies crashes synaptic and gdebi

As an old time xfce user, I love the goodies. However, after I installed them using synaptic, synaptic is broken. Fix broken packages doesn't work. Various apt commands don't fix it, either. I read on an earlier thread where somebody uninstalled then reinstalled the whisker menu, and that fixed it. Not for me.
Here's the error message, which I can't decipher, but devs and more expert users than me might be able to:
Code: Preparing to unpack .../xfce4-whiskermenu-linuxlite_2.1.4-1_amd64.deb ...
Unpacking xfce4-whiskermenu-linuxlite (2.1.4-1) over (2.1.4-1) ...

gdebi gui stuck on desktop

Hi, I'm a longtime (15+ years) xubuntu user. My gf had Win7 on her desktop, for which MS is dropping support soon. She's never used Linux, so I decided to switch her over to something simple. I did some research and settled on LL for several reasons, top among them: I'm going to be the one managing it, I like the ubuntu lts, I have a lot of experience with xfce, I like synaptic, and I wanted a simple user interface. LL had them all.
She uses Chrome. After installing LL, I went to the link google gave for it, and clicked download. The option came up to install it with gdebi. I selected it. Then, I couldn't get gdebi to go away, no matter how many times I clicked the top right X or right clicked and selected close. So, I went to the terminal manager, searched for it, found it, and killed it. It was still there. I can minimize it, but it still shows in the panel.
So, I logged out. When I logged back in, it's still there. I checked the task manager, but it's not showing.
I looked for it in the app finder, but it doesn't show on a search.
I opened it up using the terminal. Another instance of it opened and closed easily, but the old one is still there and won't go away.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

I am running Linuxlite from a USB stick to fix a disc problem on a PC, but I cannot run "su" or "sudo" in a terminal because I do not have the superuser password.
Can someone tell me what it is?
Thanks

Hi new user here and final made the best switch to linux.
I had linux lite 3.8 and I had brought a Corsair Gaming Harpoon RGB Mouse as my mouse wheel had broken on my older mouse and when I had upgraded to Linux Lite 4.6 (yes i know i waited a while to upgrade) my mouse had stopped working it is not responsive there is still power going to it as it does light up but the sensor isn't working on it. I have tried different USB ports still not working, I have even tried few of my friends PC and it works fine on theirs and had previous worked on Linux Lite 3.8 but as soon as i upgraded it had stopped working it was even working on the live version of 4.6 but when I installed 4.6 it had stopped working and yes i have enabled it on the mouse and touchpad settings still not working.
I have had to go back to my previous mouse so scrolling it a world of pain for me right now. If anyone has any ideas of a solution to this I am willing to try anything.
Just try and give me noob friendly advice as I'm still pretty new to using the terminal and such. Any help would be great seem like a weird issue to have. If any further information is needed I can provide it just may needed to be pointed in the right direction as I'm still fairly new to this system. Thank you very much and looking forward to your answers and suggestions.

Good evening to you all!
Please, could any of you help me thorough the installation of linux lite on my kid's laptop!! It's the 4th time I freshly install it and when rebooting it keeps showing the message of error trying to write outside disk os somthing like that. I tried several times with the boot repair disk to solve it, but, simply could not make it work.
In this moment I am installing it again, having set a partition of 10GB as "/" and the rest 480 GB as /home.
I am talking about an old laptop, HP COMPAQ NX6325 WITH 2 GB RAM and a hdd 500GB.
Any help would be more than appreciated!!!!!!!
Thanks in advance....

Issue with drag and drop and searching

When you have a bunch of pics on your desktop, and you highlight all of them and try to drag them to a folder on the desktop.. IT JUST OPENS ALL PHOTOS IN ONE BIG BUNCH INSTEAD OF PUTTING THEM INTO THE FOLDER..
YOU NEED TO FIX THAT.
NEXT PAIN IN THE ASS..
WHEN YOU SEARCH FOR SOMETHING, AND YOU GET A SEARCH RESULTS WINDOW , WITH ITEMS IN IT.. YOU CANT DO ANYTHING WITH THEM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU CANT COPY THEM, YOU CANT DELETE THEM, YOU CANT MOVE THEM...
WHAT THE HELL GOOD IS A SEARCH IF YOU CANT USE THE RESULTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIRD PAIN IN THE ASS..
THE TASKBAR ICON TO AUDIO MIXER OPENS IT.. THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU CANT CHANGE VOLUME LEVEL !!!!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL GOOD IS IT IF YOU CANT CHANGE THE VOLUME LEVEL .. ITS A PIECE OF JUNK !!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT DOESNT WORK...
YOU KNOW.. IM JUST A USER.. BEEN USING LINUX FOR 20 YEARS.. BUT IVE FOUND MORE SCREWUPS IN A WEEK OF USING THIS THAN YOUR SO CALLED EXPERTS HAVE SINCE ITS RELEASE...
PERSONALLY.. I THINK LINUX LITE IS THE MOST SUPERB LINUX AVAILABLE.. IVE USED THEM ALL.. I KEEP UP ON NEW DISTROS..
MOST OF THEM ARE JUNK BECUASE THEY WERE JUNK TO START WITH.. SOME OF THEM ARE EXCECPTIONAL.. WELL DONE.. BUT THEIR THE SAME OLD THING ALL THE TIME..JUST NEW BUGGY REHASH OF THE ONE THEY DIDNT FIX BEFORE..
TELL ME..JUST HOW SMART IS IT TO KEEP ROLLING OUT NEW DISTROS WHEN EVERY ONE YOUVE RELEASED BEFORE IS BUGGY AS HELL... RIGHT...UH HUH.... DUMP AS DIRT..THATS WHAT...
WHAT I SEE IN LINUX LITE IS INTELLIGENCE... SMARTS.. ITS DOING SOME THINGS DIFFERENTLY...BETTER.. IT SURPASSES EVEN LINUX MINT.. AND LDME .. LDME 2 WAS THE PINNACLE OF GREAT LINUX.. THEN THEY SCREWED IT UP WITH LDME 3.. TOTAL PIECE OF BUGGY JUNK...
WHY DO THAT WHEN YOU COULD JUST FIX THE SMALL AMOUNT OF REMAINING BUGS IN VER 2 AND HAVE A OUTSTANDING OS..
BECAUSE THEIR... STUPID...
LINUX LITE HAS SOME SERIOUS USER FEATURE FLAWS.. IVE STARTED POINTING THEM OUT HERE... YOU CANT HAVE USER FEATURE FLAWS...WHEN ALMOST EVERY OTHER LINUX GETS THEM RIGHT... IT MAKES YOU LOOK STUPID AND FRUSTRATES THE END USER..
I MEAN.. CANT USE SEARCH RESULTS.. REALLY....OMG.. DUMB AS DIRT.. CANT ADJUST VOLUME WITH THE AUDIO MIXER.. WHICH BY THE WAY IS A TRAIN WRECK OF DESIGN.. IT FRIGGIN SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!! WHOEVER DESIGNED THAT NEEDS TO BE STAKED OUT TO AN ANT BED...
STOP TRYING TO MAKE THINGS THAT ARE SIMPLE, BROKEN UN USEABLE AND OVERLY COMPLICATED... THATS STUPID...
JUST PUT THE STD ALSA MIXER OR WHATEVER YOU USING BACK ...GET RID OF THAT CRAP MIXER...
FIX THE DAM SEARCH RESULTS SO YOU CAN COPY CUT PASTE MOVE OR DELETE THEM... IT WORKS IN EVERY OTHER LINUX..
PERHAPS YOUR NOT USED TO SOMEONE COMING HERE AND KICKING YOUR ASS... WELL TOUGH.. GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS AND DO THINGS RIGHT.. AND YOU WOULDNT HAVE IT...
TELL ME..HOW HARD IS IT TO USE AN OS FOR A COUPLE WEEKS BEFORE YOU PUT IT OUT...AND FIND CRAP LIKE THESE..
SEEMS PRETTY EASY TO ME...
NOW INSTEAD OF FLAMING ME..GO FIX YOUR BROKEN CRAP.. AND YOU WONT GET CRITIZED..
G'DAY
FOUND ANOTHER ONE !!!!!!!!
ON DESKTOP... TRASH HOME AND NETWORK ICONS ARE PRESENT.. IF YOU OPEN DESKTOP SETTINGS.. ICONS... THEY ARE UN CHECKED !!!!!!!!!!! THEY SHOULDNT BE THERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GEZZZZZZZZUS ...REALLY.... EVEN JUNK LIKE LUBUNTU GETS THAT RIGHT

En una terminal escriban:
Code: sudo apt-get --allow-releaseinfo-change update
