  Audacity in LL 5.0

I haven't been able to record in Audacity, after the update to 5.0. It's not that important for me, I'm just interested to know, if the application works for you.

  Installing card reader
Posted by: JKey - 07-26-2020, 11:50 AM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (7)

hi guys,
just installed Lite 5 and it's working perfectly, so happy with it. But maybe not so happy with myselfSmile I have a new TechlyI-Card Cam-USB2TY which for the life of me I can't install. I can't run the mini cd installation disc beyond putting the files into a folder and the driver from the website I do not know how to open.
Grateful for any help...

Always Have To Mount SSD Drive
Posted by: lc6529 - 07-24-2020, 06:43 PM - Forum: Hard Drives and SSDs - Replies (3)

I recently added a 2 TB drive strictly to hold VirtualBox images.    For some reason the drive is not mounting automatically though I have it set to automount (at least I believe I have).

Anyway, the workaround is to mount when the desktop loads but that is annoying.

Any suggestions?

Attached are screenshots of the drive setup and settings.

  Trouble installing Zoom
Posted by: betwixt - 07-23-2020, 05:25 PM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (4)

Hi all,

I saw last year's thread about zoom but that's not helping in my case, if only because I'm a beginner at all this! I downloaded zoom for Ubuntu, eta al., but then I just have a zip folder to extract from and I don't understand what to do from there. I also tried installing from terminal, but I get this message:

E: Unsupported file ./zoom_amd64.deb given on commandline

Thanks for any help!

FBReader writes hyphen after each word
Posted by: scullion - 07-23-2020, 02:14 PM - Forum: Other - Replies (10)

Toshiba Portege R700
Lite 5.0

I use FBReader a great deal and I have the version 0.12.10dfsg2-4bu installed from the repository.
When reading an epub book the application inserts a hyphen after every word before the space.
No amount of fiddling with the settings changes this.
I have a similar setup on a Satellite Pro running MX and FBReader (version 0.12.10dfsg2-3) renders the text perfectly.
My old 32bit D420 runs Lite 3.8 and FBReader works as it should.
I've just learned that the developer no longer supports Linux and that version 12 is old software, I've also read that Ubuntu 20 has dropped qt4 which may explain something.
Has anyone else experienced this?

  Sourceforge blocking downloads
Posted by: Moltke - 07-22-2020, 07:18 PM - Forum: Off Topic - Replies (2)

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life! Smile

I just found I can't download or do anything else in that site because of US sanctions as stated in new SF terms and conditions https://slashdotmedia.com/terms-of-use/:

Quote:Users residing in countries on the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control sanction list, including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, Sudan and Syria, may not post Content to, or access Content available through, SourceForge.net. Luckily, LL  is not hosted there anymore but there are a couple of projects hosted on that site I follow and I know I can use a vpn and I do use protonvpn but still ... such a pain and a dissapointment!

  Kernel tweaking graphic tool
Posted by: Şerban S. - 07-22-2020, 07:07 AM - Forum: Other - Replies (1)

Hi! Smile

Does anyone know if there is a graphic tool that allows to rebuild a kernel without certain modules, such as useless drivers and the like?
My skills in compling/recompiling are close to none. This might help me remove useless drivers (Radeon, for one, even NVidia, on the other machines).

Best regards! Smile
