  No bluetooth adapters found
Posted by: noweare - 06-16-2021, 05:30 PM - Forum: Other - No Replies

I am running LL 5.4 HP Slimline Desktop

I have not used Bluetooth for anything in the past but I was just seeing if I could pair BT keyboard.

First tried the gui bluetooth apps Bluetooth Adapters and Bluetooth Manager
Bluetooth Adapters just quickly appeared then disappeared and Bluetooth manager gave
me the error msg:
"Bluez daemon is not running, blueman-manager connot continue. This
probably means that there were no BT adapters detected or BT daemon was not started"

Running the scripts from the CLI showed that No BT adapters were found.
jrm> sudo python3 blueman-adapters
blueman-adapters version 2.1.2 starting
blueman-adapters 13.02.55 ERROR    Adapter:53 __init__  : No adapter(s) found

I tried to go into the machines bios to see if I could do something in there
but bios doesn't have any settings for BT

I found the thread about someone else having the same problem on a Dell machine.
Jerry posted a fix but the link was about not finding Wifi not bluetooth so I did not
think it applied.

Any help is appreciated.

On making threads: Using the toolbar(or hotkeys).
Posted by: Moltke - 06-13-2021, 01:55 AM - Forum: Tutorials - No Replies

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life!  :55:

I've been noticing that people don't seem to be using the WYSIWYG editor's toolbar when creating/opening a new thread, and more often than not, their posts include text in some particular format, i.e. output from a terminal's command. But they do so by copying/pasting the text in plain without using the appropriate tag, which might make difficult for other users to read, more so if it is a long text.

The toolbar serves as a "shortcut" for these; just hit/click the corresponding icon/button to apply the desired tag to use.

For example, if bold text is to be used, click/hit the B icon/button, alternatively, press Ctrl + b which has the same result.

Likewise, I or pressing Ctrl + i will make the text italicized, Ctrl + u for underscore or click the U, the next button is for Strikethrough(hotkey is Ctrl + s, but most browsers use the same for Save as).

The next icons/buttons are for text alignment; preformatted text, left, center and right respectively.

Then we have the menu for fonts; font type(Font Face), Font Size and Change(font)Color, these are drop-down menus, just click in the "arrow head" to expand, and select one of the options to apply.

The next section can be very helpful, as they allow performing several actions in your posts, you can check what each one does by hovering the mouse over them.

From left to right:
Insert: image, hyperlink, email, ftp link, glow, shadow,  marquee, superscript, subscript, teletype, table, code, quote, unordered list, ordered list, rule, remove formatting and finally toggle view.

So, for example, if you plan to include some output from terminal, hit the insert code icon/button, these [ code ] [ /code ]  will appear, just paste the output between the two, hit preview or post, and your code looks good

Code:
sudo apt update
Instead of just sudo apt update. Emojis are self-explanatory.

Well, I hope this helps and encourages people to use the editor's toolbar or the hotkeys when available in their writings, and by doing so they'll be helping us to helping them; the better their thread/post reads, the better our understanding of the situation their post/thread is about. Smile

  Wine and MagicArena
Posted by: 2r - 06-12-2021, 02:43 PM - Forum: Games Support - Replies (6)

I installed wine and winetricks and proceeded with winecfg.
From the terminal, i executed with following line: winetricks vcrun2013 vcrun2015 corefonts wininet winhttp

In the process of installation i get:
You are using a 64-bit WINEPREFIX. Note that many verbs only install 32-bit versions of packages. If you encounter problems, please retest in a clean 32-bit WINEPREFIX before reporting a bug.

Next i did:
cd Downloads

and executed:

wine MTGAInstaller.exe

After the input of my country and pressing the Next-Button, this message shows up:

Install Failed
MTGA Launcher kann unter den folgenden
Windows-Versionen nicht installiert werden:
Windows XP SP2 x64, Windows Server 2003 SP2 x64,
Windows Vista x64, Windows Server 2008 x64.

Installed to USB stick, unable to boot, boot loader not found (Linux Lite 5.4)
Posted by: enyao - 06-10-2021, 11:07 AM - Forum: Installing Linux Lite - Replies (5)

Hi,

I'm trying to install Linux Lite 5.4 to a 32GB USB stick. After installation with no error on a laptop with dual boot Window & Linux MInt 20, I cannot boot into the USB stick on the laptop.
Not only that, I cannot boot into the Linux Mint on the hard drive as well.

Then I booted into Boot-Repair Live USB and successfully repaired the hard drive booting and able to boot into Linux Mint.
I run Boot-Info to capture the log of the boot info of the hard drive.
After that, I inserted the USB Linux Lite and run the Boot-Info to capture the boot info of the USB. The installation wasn't able to install the proper boot loader into the USB.

I followed the steps in this tutorial (https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/tutor...eady-yet!/),
and specifically paid attention to setting the "Device for boot loader installation" to /dev/sdc/.

I repeated the same process with Xubuntu 20.04 LTS and ended up with the same problem.

Is there a way to manually copied the boot loader into the USB and configure the Grub to load all the necessary files to boot from the USB directly?
In that way, I can use the USB Linux Lite on any computer that allowed booting from USB.

Sprintrdriver commented on the tutotial to physically disconnect the internal hard drive before the installation. But I don't want to mess around with the hardware of this laptop.

I attached here the boot-info I capture:
1-Boot-Info_20210609_1901-Repated-Mint-Aft-LL-Installed.txt (After Boot-Repair and booted into Linux Mint on hard drive).
2-Boot-Info_20210610_1132-Booted-Mint-USB-Linux-Lite.txt  (booted into Linux Mint and inserted the USB Linux Lite).

  More trouble installing Wine
Posted by: Kevin Perez - 06-09-2021, 01:20 AM - Forum: Installing Software - Replies (10)

Hello Everyone,

I am hoping to eventually install Zello on my computer. In order for this program to work, it requires Wine. I tried following the instructions for installing Wine by:

  • dpkg --print-architecture
  • sudo add-apt-repository 'deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/focal main'
  • Received error message: " E: Malformed entry 55 in list file /etc/apt/sources.list (Component)
E: The list of sources could not be read."
  • Opened Menu->System->Package Manager
  • Enter Password and Press Authenticate
  • Received error message: "E: Malformed entry 55 in list file /etc/apt/sources.list (Component)
E: The list of sources could not be read.
    E: _cache->open() failed, please report."
  • Pressed "Close" button
  • Reported all of this to you
Given all this, how may I finally install Wine? What woudl you recommend I do about the error messages. I have already tried using cat /etc/apt/sources.list. It produces:

  iwd: wireless daemon for Linux
Posted by: Moltke - 06-07-2021, 03:20 PM - Forum: Tutorials - No Replies

Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life! Smile

I recently learned about this new tool to control, configure, manage and use wireless networks.

Quote:iNet Wireless Daemon (iwd) project aims to provide a comprehensive Wi-Fi connectivity solution for Linux based devices. The core goal of the project is to optimize resource utilization: storage, runtime memory and link-time costs. This is accomplished by not depending on any external libraries and utilizes features provided by the Linux Kernel to the maximum extent possible. The result is a self-contained environment that only depends on the Linux Kernel and the runtime C library.

I installed it and must say it's working really great; my Wi-Fi seems to be more stable, keeping a constant speed.  To install just launch a terminal and run
Code:
sudo apt-get install iwd
then follow instructions from Debian's wiki https://wiki.debian.org/NetworkManager/iwd
Also, you might want to read here too:
