In the official software repos for LinuxLite there exists the BOINC screensaver.
[Image: boinc-screensaver-1.png]What I cannot find are any instructions on how to activate it. I have BOINC running and BOINCManager. The screen saver does not appear in the ScreenSaver menu as an option. There is nothing I can find on BOINCManager to enable it.
1) Where are the instructions for enabling this in LinuxLite?2) How could this possibly ever get tested without instructions?

Hello linuxlite,

I believe it would be better to change bash alias:

from:
alias ls="ls --color"
to:
alias ls="ls --color=auto"

That would not output color codes in terminal.

Thanks

Hi, everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life! Smile
I just bumped into this while checking my feed:https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=LightDM-1.32-Released
An excerpt:

Quote:LightDM 1.32 is basically a collection of fixes that have accumulated in the tree over the past three years. LightDM 1.32 has a wide variety of different bug fixes, fixes build failures on FreeBSD, fixes building with newer Glibc, addressing deprecated items, and also does drop Qt 4 tool-kit support. With Qt4 having been unsupported since 2015, it's been long overdue for removal.

My open file dialog is missing a textbox to directly enter a file or folder path.

This might be better directed to the xfce team, but for some reason this clunky ui decision where there's no textbox to directly enter a path in the open file dialog is the default on the Linux Lite OS which I'm using. And it's from 2021 version 5.4 with this filename linux-lite-5.4-64bit.iso so perhaps I just need to patch?

Decided to set up LinuxLite on a BOINC machine yesterday. Had 5.4 disk so installed that. When installing I checked the box to install 3rd party drivers, etc. I applied my updates, and did everything else. Life was good. Checked from command line and Nvidia drivers installed.

The last button wanted me to upgrade to 5.8. Okay fine. After rebooting screen is locked at 640x480. The GUI for drivers has the "manually installed" radio button forced on and will allow no changes.
Had to fight my way to getting a terminal open.

Code:
lsmod | grep -i nvidia
shows Nvidia driver still running but resolution is wrong and there are no nvidia applications installed to fix resolution. The Display GUI tool is also locked at 640x480 showing no other options.
Code:
sudo ubuntu-drivers autoinstall
After reboot seems to have fixed it.
If the upgrade had removed whatever forces that "manual" radio button to be checked I could have fixed this from the GUI. None of your stuff is 640x480 friendly though.

Is it possible to install KDE connect in linuxlite? Is there any software dependency?
If not, is there any alternative?
Thank you

Hello,

The “Event sounds” and “Input feedback sounds” worked well for me in LL 5.8, but I can not turn them on in LL 6.0. Both options are enabled in ‘Settings->Appearance->Settings’. The sounds are OK otherwise. I can hear the “Login sound” for example.

The “SoundThemeName” field in ‘Settings->Settings Editor->xsettings’ was empty initially, while in LL 5.8 the value was “Lite”. I have changed the field's value to “Lite”, “/usr/share/sounds/Lite”,  “/usr/share/sounds/Lite/index”, and “/usr/share/sounds/Lite/index.theme”, but it didn’t make any difference.

Has anybody turned “Input feedback sounds” on in LL 6.0 and what “SoundThemeName“ value is used?
