I'm still learning, tweaking, and playing around with this new install of Lite. I'm constantly being amazed at what it can do. One of the problems I was experiencing on my old install of Mint 18.1, was a painfully sluggish Firefox. Not only did it take a LONG time to open the app, everything about my web surfing was slow. I have Internet service with my cable provider and have 100 Mbps service. I was NEVER able to see speeds above about 50 Mbps. While that's plenty fast to do all the things I do, I just felt cheated that I couldn't get everything I was paying for. I just ran another speed test and this one was only 106.40. Yesterday I was constantly hitting 108 - 112 Mbps.

Another thing I'm noticing is that Firefox itself just SNAPS when I do anything like open a new tab, open bookmarks, or open anything on the MenuBar. It's just a great feeling to actually see this laptop performing the way it should be. This G50 isn't a very high end laptop, but with the hardware it does have I knew it should be showing me a lot more than it was with Mint. Don't misunderstand me. I'm not criticizing Linux Mint. I used it for  long time with no complaints. It's just that something started happening between Mint and my 2 laptops about version 17.1 to cause really sluggish performance. It's entirely possible that the real problem was with the laptops, or the way I tweaked my installs, and not with Mint at all. I'm just really pleased with the way the 2 laptops are performing now with Lite. Looks like I'll be around here for a long while.
