@TheDead

Technically the Windows base API is public domain, which would include icons, themes, logos, etc. It only becomes proprietary if you intend to resell software as Windows branded software for which you would need a license. You can give it away for free or use it yourself all you want.

Anyway everyday these days, things are mashed-up cross-platform more and more. Oracle's case against Google is heading for review in the US supreme court. Settled in Google's favor... a literal dam will break on Web/Cloud applications. Canonical is involved with nextcloud, see link below.

https://nextcloud.com/countdown/

On another note, Kubuntu is coming out with their own branded OEM laptop. Maybe Linux Lite is about to too, or will if it goes KDE.
Maybe Bill bought Canonical, or Google bought Canonical.

Maybe the "W7" looks and icons will be public domain after W7 dies?
A W7 Theme for LiLi?

Hey everyone. Please make sure you are in and around the Forums on January 15th, 2020 (NZ time) for a huge announcement!

got to be the end of life for all versions of windows 7 64 bit and 32bit. it says it ends 1-14-2020, so ya January 15th, when i used to use windows , i like windows 7 the best.

my uncle just got a nice free refurbished PC, its not much , but its a HP, 64bit, 8 Gigs of ram, 3GB hard drive , runs smooth so for a used PC, it has sucky windows 10 Pro, he is not switching back to Linux yet, he wants to wait awhile first, just helping him on it brought all the head aches back and not happy memories , ha ha . but ohhhhhh, i will wait, ha ha . sorry for the spoiler alert, hugs .

 i love my Linux ...........

I bet it's something cool, like:
  • Donations are so good that he's going full-time on Linux Lite, or
  • He inherited a zillion and twelve dollars from a rich uncle, so he's going full time on Linux Lite, or
  • Canonical is buying Linux Lite and hiring Jerry as it's full-time dev, or
  • Linux Lite just bought out Microsoft and everyone's going to Linux Lite!

Hummm, yes Watson, from that backdrop... looks like an option to run Linux Lite from within Windows. ;)

Why would i want to run Linux Lite from within windows?
