I understand the need to update regularly using the Install Updates link in main menu.  Is this all that is required to keep system up to date or should I also update via Synaptics too?  Just wondered.

Hello!

Running the 'Install Updates' script should be sufficient. Doing it in Synaptic as well would be kind of redundant.

Thanks for reminding me. I needed to do that myself...
