PAE Kernel question

<< < (2/2)

joejohnston3:
Well, I wondered why there was a PAE Kernel installer. I was confused though as I went into System Info and it showed both processors and and SMP kernel and normally with non-PAE it was not showing both processors. I will now boot into the PAE Kernel and use that as it should probably help performance even though LL is already flying! :)

One last thing, it seems that this kernel is older with PAE. If that is so, is there a newer one we can use or should I stick with the one the installer chooses?

Scott:
Hi Joe. LL 106 uses a stock pae kernel. LL 108 uses a non-pae kernel at install and you can upgrade later by going to menu>system>install additional software.

Hi All,

Do I need to install the PAE Kernel under additional software with Linux Lite 1.0.8 or does it automatically use a PAE Kernel if it detects one during install? System Info seemed to show a newer Kernel then the one used through the PAE install so I am confused and need some clarification on what to use. Thank you.
