Howdy and welcome littlefeather..

How about you also post a

Code: [Select]
inxi -Fxxxz
So we can see your machine. As far as not completing shutdown. All I can contribute is that on my older laptops that I have sold.
Code: [Select]
acpi=off would have to added to the kernel line in legacy grub for my IBM A22M and IBM 390E to shut down completely
because of the age of the laptops.

I am not sure about the policy here when it comes to piggy backing on a thread here either. Where I  mod it. Usually if it is a issue. I just move the thread/new users posts,  to it's own titled location that I  make for the new forum user that did not know.

Different forum provider than here so I am not savvy on the forum tools here for mods and admins.
Worse came to worse. I would cut and paste posts into a new thread of my making and delete the piggy back posts.
If it is a issue here.

Edit: are you talking about a live session or a installation that is finished?

Another is that Linux distros no longer check for bad sectors on the hard drive,
I think this check is essential for any used drives, it takes a long time to check a drive.
I have drives that report fine under SMART disk tests but have a bad sector lurking.
I recommend testing the disk with gsmartcontrol, full disk test, review for any errors

AntiX 15 Beta 2 does. And guess what. Mine are flagged as going to fail soon on my old iBM T23 P3  laptop.
During t the install process and I am asked if I am sure I wish to proceed.
Which I ignore.
Because I expect this.

Same goes for my Panasonic CF-48 laptop ide hard drive.  Just info is all this post is about.

hi Kevin,
I wish all OSes would give more debugging information upon install rather than less.
Here are some things that go wrong when I've had bad installs (any linux OS)
the download will be ok [md5sum]
and the burning  of the DVD will be ok,
but when installing there will be slight read error from the DVD (dirt, dust, smudge) or even the DVD drive (old age ..)
That will screw up the install.
AND
run from a live boot
1st reformat swap space to ext3 (you can format it back to swap space later)
then
fsck -c /dev/sda1
fsck -c /dev/sda2
fsck -c /dev/sda3
fsck -c /dev/sda4
...
that process will find nasties that are better found now than later

Hello!

Since torrent files come to you in bits and pieces, this makes verifying downloads with a hash check all the more important...

No mention if a md5sum was done on downloaded iso from torrent client.
So was a md5sum check done on your iso file before you installed Linux-Lite?

In terms of integrity, an MD5 hash comparison detects changes in files that would cause errors.

All my Broadcom wifi chips work just fine and dandy so far in Linux-Lite.
A

should be in this thread also. So we could see what Broadcom chip we are talking about here.

hi,
I have installed linux lite 2.4 on my asus laptop,  installation process went fine, and i installed wifi driver from "install driver " icon, problem started when i restarted my laptop, first, it didn’t shut down, instead it showed the screen showing default picture of linux lite, and a progress at on the bottom, i waited for 30 Min for the progress  bar to complete, then also nothing happened, after waiting for another  30 min, I forced shut down my laptop, then on rebooting, again everything went all right, now, it didn’t showed wifi,  then i performed updates, now i installed the wifi driver   ( i.e.broadcom......e.t.c.  ) now again my wifi started working, now when i shut down my system again it didn’t shut down, it showed the same default picture with a progress bar, so i force my system to shut down,
this time when i rebooted , it booted and then every thing went blank, nothing happened.

i reinstalled ll again and again, every time it showed the same result,

 where i went wrong ? what’s the problem ?

i downloaded is0 file from official linux lite website, using torrent client .(qb torrent)

pls help . i am really frustrated.
