chancing my arm here, i have to say i'm mighty displeased with the fact linux spammed my machine with a load of difficult to get rid of pop ups, toolbar hijackers and the like. what is this? i thought you people were ethical. very bad PR.

your download instructions are not clear and so far i wd rate microsoft over linux in the front of house stakes. let's hope the OS is better or same as W8 about which i have no complaints apart from price and corporate roots.

Redrobot,

The company I work for recently moved to ll 2.2 for over 30 work stations and have not had the popup problem your talking about.

where did you download the images? And what software was used to place it on a usb stick?
If you did not download the image from a ll mirror I would re download it from the website here

Sorry if I over step my bounds but was just curious

Haven't got the slightest idea what you're talking about here.

You said it wouldn't boot.  Then you claim it loaded toolbar hijackers, etc., etc.  How did it do that if it never booted?  Also, that would absolutely never happen if you downloaded a legitimate copy of the LL ISO file.  I've never heard of anything like that happening ... with any Linux distro!

Just in case you didn't download from us directly and got some mutilated, pretend copy of LL from somewhere else, here is the correct location to download from:  https://www.linuxliteos.com/download.html

And here is a link to the Help Manual page for installing:  https://www.linuxliteos.com/manual/install.html

If those instructions aren't clear enough, tell us exactly what part of the process is causing confusion.  A general "they're not clear" tells us nothing and we're not about to play 20-questions just to find out what the problem is.

saved linux lite to USB and plugged into laptop hoping to get free install but won't boot and screen still black.

any suggestions?

My first suggestion would be if you need assistance from the community it would be a bad idea to start off questioning their ethics. I'm not sure who would come to your aid willingly, but we'll see.

First question, how did you put Linux Lite onto your USB?

Hello redrobot,

I don't really understand your post well, as you describe Linux Lite producing a black screen and won't boot, are the pop-up, toolbar hijackers and the like occurring on the unbooted machine with Linux Lite, or a different machine you have networked and hence your reasoning/belief ?

Or do you mean they were there on the windows OS and still remain and you wish to install Linux Lite and also remove these ?

hello

recently got a refurb laptop with W7. had problems with mouse pad so installed W8 which i have on my PC not realising i only had licence for 1 machine. got mail from microsoft informing me i had to buy a new licence. as i was working out what to do microsoft uninstalled W8 on the laptop which now shows a blank black screen and nothing else.

saved linux lite to USB and plugged into laptop hoping to get free install but won't boot and screen still black.

any suggestions?
