no boot option in BIOS

i'm sorry,
i should've mentioned that it was solved allready..

it was very stupid.
i installed linux lite with usb, called usb 8.0 GB in the boot menu.
without the usb in my laptop it was just called usb.. (that's why i thought something went wrong)
i was used to that the boot option would get the name of the os, but in this case it was just called usb..

for the LL2.4, i still had a .iso file of LL2.2, i'll probably still upgrade it at some time

Hi Patrick,

Just a few questions to get a better understanding:

1. Are you rather talking about the bootloader GRUB instead of the BIOS (basic input/output system)?
Only in GRUB that will be installed on your harddisk you would get an entry for your OS. The BIOS on the other hand comes with your computer as some kind of firmware placed in a ROM chip. It will show you - amongst other things - your harddisk and lets you configure which device you want to boot from. You won't be able to choose the OS in there.
So, when you boot up your computer at some point it will try to boot from the harddisk you have configured via BIOS by 'looking' for the bootloader on this disk. The bootloader then - if installed - decides which OS to start or action to perform.

2. Have you installed the bootloader during the installation process?

3. Did you select the harddisk in the BIOS as device to boot from?

4. What actually happens when you turn on the computer?

5. Not relevant to your problem: Why don't you install the newest version LL2.4?

Hi,

i tried installing linux lite 2.2 now, 3 times..
i've formatted the harddisk, created new partitions: /dev/sda ext4 mount option / and /dev/sda5 swap, also there is /dev/sda2 extended.
The installation was succesful, but linux lite isn't in the BIOS. (tried 2 times like this)

So now, in the installation process, i chose the option to delete previous OS (linux lite 2.2) and overwrite it with the same OS.
Again, installation worked fine, but still the linux lite isn't in the BIOS.
