Hi Colin
Is your volume control visible? I think volume control and networks are part of the 'indicator plugin' - maybe you have removed it? Try right-click on your panel then 'add items' and choose 'indicator plugin'.

Colin,
Does this work? At least until the panel icon is fixed.
Menu > Internet > Network Connections
In Notification Area, Known Applications, do you see Network Manager Applet? Like in in this example...
Hello All

I have the same problem except I cant even follow how it was fixed I get
Failed to execute command "nm-connection-editor".
Failed to execute child process "nm-connection-editor" (No such file or directory)
my Volume control is also missing and Notification Area is grayed out in Add new items?
I am a complete novice
I am just going to install 2.4 hope that solves it i think I deleted some packages to create some room. and that is when it spazed out

Hello!
When Lubuntu 14.04 first came out, they forgot to tell it to run nm-applet on startup. It was fixed shortly afterward, and was never a problem in Linux Lite.
Turning Indicator Plugin on after having added nm-applet to run on startup would cause two network icons to appear, but you know that now...

Thanks for responding.
I am not sure I followed your reply I think that I deleted some stuff to make space I don't have blue-tooth on this laptop so I deleted some of those packages Willy nilly I probably knocked out something at that time.
I solved it by installing 2.4. then I had to correct the normal broadcom wifi stuff the same way i did in 2.0. I now have it running.
I am getting better at this but don't know if I will ever reach my windows level of ability (partly because Linux has not ever broken it always boots so its is more tweaking than anything)
Thanks for you help!
