eikelein (aka Eike J H) says Hello. Introduction? Okay:

50 years computer veteran.

32 years PC veteran, Windows PC home user support full time since 2002 when I "officially" retired. Regular "expert" guest on a local call-in radio talk show.

I am looking for a Windows replacement that I can recommend to the typical home user that introduces themselves with "I know nothing about computers".

Currently looking at and "comparing" 7 distros and liking Linux Lite a lot - so far.
Welcome aboard .

Glad to have you on Linux mate .
Howdy and Welcome.
Hi eikelein

I'd be very interested in your hit list of distros given your background and wealth of experience as a teaher, was that for desktops or servers?.

I'm 71 and 49 weeks old and I was a manual worker in the roofing business most of my life but I did do some suspended ceiling work, I was a "Fixer" 11 months after I started as a labourer, 18 months later I was a foreman and went on to be the senior roofing & cladding foreman on two nuclear power stations, I've also spent time as a hippy and also spent time and not been found wanting with Angels(HA), One day maybe I'll learn to ride two wheels although a made has a trike.

Brian,
It's an old thread but I have settled on LL since I got a theme with wider window borders.

My IT experience began with 1960s punch card controlled systems and ended with Oracle database servers about 12 years ago.

I use, manage and secure CP/M machines since ca. 1978 and PCs since 1982, all versions of MS-DOS and Windows. The last 15 years single machine installations and small server less businesses, no experience at all with Micro$oft server systems.
