You are right Sebastian, this is far from solved. Just noticed yesterday something strange, was watching football match and decided to switch to the TV screen so i did as you adviced. To my surprise i could hear sound but could not see neither the match nor the browser window that was open. I then tried logging out and it took me back to the screen which you get when you click CTRL+ALT+F1.

Further to that, on the lite widget it displays my user name twice under "Logged in as". I had to restart the computer for it to properly work. So until a fix is found, i think now i have to look for keyboard shortcuts that will allow me to restart the computer without going through all the above process.

I would suggest removing the SOLVED tag as this hasn't been solved. The fix I told is just a temporary fix that need to be reapplied for each disconnect (and each time the screen goes into powersave mode), and I think unless there is a permanent fix, this isn't solved.

Seems to be same as my problem.
https://www.linuxliteos.com/forums/video-cards/hdmi-screen-wont-recover-after-being-unplugged-or-turned-off/

Try CTRL+ALT+F1 after having plugged in the TV through VGA. If you see the login prompt, login and then "startx".
Obviously, this needs to be fixed.
