I installed the GT710 card, and bada-bing got the 3 monitors set up NO PROBLEMO.

I appreciate the help.  I wouldn't mark this one SOLVED though - never was able to get the settings to stick with the VGA to USB adapters.  But that's cool.  I am currently enjoying being back to 3 monitors.

You should be fine with that set up. Let us know how it all turns out. Don't forget to use the nVidia driver after the physical install. Then do your monitor set up with the nVidia Control panel.

There are 2 ACER and one ASUS, all three 1440x900, LCD, 19".

And I actually found a good deal on a new GeForce GT710 2gb card - I can run all three off of it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073GF2CL6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

But I am still looking.  My computer is somewhat old, and I do not game - just for business and personal use.  Running Windows 7.

Are the VGA monitors identical? See here for multi-monitor support - https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-730/specifications

If you had 3 identical monitors and an nVidia card that supported 3 or more monitors, there would be zero issues.

I found a refurbished GeForce GT 730 video card (that is affordable).  Would this be a good way to go to solve my problems?  I have 3 VGA monitors and I can use my original VGA connection, one from the new card, and an EVGA VGA to DVI adapter for the third.

Would I maybe be able to use ARandR to fix this?  If it works on Lite, I may have found a way.

Wouldn't hurt.

Yes, I get that.  Just trying to find the right hoops to jump through.  Especially since a $245+ video card is not in the future.

Seems like there has to be a way since I can actually get them to work temporarily.

Sometimes you have to jump through a few hoops with linux when you have Intel graphics. Eg. If you had 3 identical monitors and an nVidia card that supported 3 or more monitors, there would be zero issues.

I don't have a clue how you do that...

This is literally the first time I have used Linux and I am totally lost.  I just ran across that when I was doing one of my many searches.  I don't even really know how to download the files from that link...  :-[

Can't seem to find a "tutorial" that is dumbed down enough for me to follow it.

You could try the link you posted earlier, but you're going to have to adjust the code in places where your info is specific. Good luck.

Sorry - this help?

1) This is how it is when I boot up:
Code: [Select]
Graphics:  Card: Intel 2nd Generation Core Integrated Graphics Controller
           Display Server: x11 (X.Org 1.19.6 )
           drivers: modesetting (unloaded: fbdev,vesa)
           Resolution: [email protected]
OpenGL: renderer: Mesa DRI Intel Sandybridge Desktop
           version: 3.3 Mesa 19.0.2

And this is how it is when I have the three screens working properly:
Code: [Select]
Graphics:  Card: Intel 2nd Generation Core Integrated Graphics Controller
           Display Server: x11 (X.Org 1.19.6 )
           drivers: modesetting (unloaded: fbdev,vesa)
Resolution: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
OpenGL: renderer: Mesa DRI Intel Sandybridge Desktop
           version: 3.3 Mesa 19.0.2

'Intel' is a bit vague given there are dozens of different models. What is the output in a Terminal of:

Code: [Select]
inxi -G
