Hi All,
I just installed Linux Lite 3.2 on my old HP Pvaillion DV5 machine which was running Windows Vista. I have a Nvidia G98M Geforce 9200M GS graphics card. I used to connect my Sansung Tv via HDMI and it would detect it and work well with Vista. However with Linux Lite, the TV gives No Signal error.
When I go in display settings, I can see the Samsung Electric Company 50" detected as a display device. 1920x1080 @ 60hz selected. I can choose the display but i don't get a signal in the TV.
Following are the things I have already tried, without any luck:
1) installed NVIDIA 340 driver from Install drivers option
2) After installation when I go to NVIDIA Xserver settings, i don't see any displays, it just shows me two options:
a) Application Profiles
b) nvidia -configuration settings
3) I have tried installing Nvidia driver through command line
I also updated the Grub file and GFX mode settings to remember the preferred settings of 1920x1080x60
4) I tried installing Arandr, that also shows both displays but does not send the signal
I am not sure what I need to do to have the hdmi send signal to my TV. I am attaching xrandr output for your reference

Thanks for your help

@linuxn00b
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable with configuring linux will come along to help you but I wonder if the problem might be with your tv settings.
I'm not sure what the difference between vistas output and linux lites hdmi output but is it possible the signal is been interperated differently and if you change the input settings on your tv things might work. From what you have said linux is recognising the tv so maybe the problem is at the tv rather than linux lite.
might be worth a try untill better help comes along :)

On a lot of TVs you have to select the video source each time you use it. They generally default to either cable or antenna when turned off and back on again. Source for your computer input will be one of HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3, etc. Some TVs have AV video source, VGA source and CEC source as well. Mine has them all. It does not automatically detect which source to use when turned on, but rather connects first time to cable TV on HDMI 1, and if the cable box is off it defaults to antenna. If you have more than one port use HDMI 2 for the computer then the TV won't expect it to be on and default to antenna when your computer is off.

With my Samsung tv I had to change the source in the tv's settings to match the correct HDMI port being used.

I am selecting the correct source(HDMI) input in the TV. When I connect my other laptop using Windows, it works seamlessly, but with Linux Lite, I get no signal. I am convinced it has something to do with settings in Linux rather than the TV. Can someone please help. This is pretty frustrating.

I wonder if it's something to do with the HDMI lines?
Mine:
HDMI-0 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 160mm x 90mm
Yours:
HDMI-1 connected primary 1920x1080+1280+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 160mm x 90mm
Yours has the 1280+0 whereas mine that's 0+0.
I have no idea what the significance of that difference is but someone might know perhaps.
