Sorry Jerry, my bad, my wording of what I wanted to say was a little off.

I should have said, most things seem ok but there still are some glitches like not being able to update sources (says, couldn't fetch the package cache information lists), the address bar in Firefox displays graphic lines 1/8" thick (similar to update sources indicator0 instead of text), and synaptic package manager reports that dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg--configure-a' to correct the problem.

You should always stick with what is already working. If it ain't broke...

The computer I am trying to fix now uses an Intel based video driver. I tried to do an install drivers to see what's going on, I can see the window come up and then it will just go away. Also, when I try to update my sources a window wants to come up but it will also go away. This install was done with the same install disk which I have verified to have a good md5 checksum.

Here is the info from an inxi -g command

Graphics:  Card: Intel 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Integrated Graphics Device
X.Org: 1.15.1 drivers: intel (unloaded: fbdev, vesa) Resolution: [email protected]
GLX Renderer: Mesa DRI Intel 845G x86/MMX/SSE2 GLX Version: 1.3 Mesa 10.1.3

Basically, the system works with the exception of what I have said above, should I be using the above driver or is there another one that is better ?
