  • CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4790

  • MEMORY: 16Gb

  • VIDEO CARD: Intel® HD Graphics 4600 + NVidia GK107 (GeForce GT630 OEM)

  • Kernel: 5.x
My question is:
How can I get rid of the "blank screen" App? Or what causes the screen go blank?
Is there any workaround?
I am testing the last resort solution: I disabled Display Power Management, although I would rather keep it, for the power down situations (they often occure, in fast pitches or for some seconds...).

I'll get back if this works, although, IT SHOULD...

Also check your Menu, Settings, Screensaver & Power Manager, see if there are conflicting settings.
I installed Lite 5.0.
I have trouble disabling the "Blank screen". The settings were inherited from LL 4.8, where everything worked fine.
I checked everything again, but despite the fact that the settings were properly chosen, screen goes blank after some minutes. It's extremely annoying, mostly when I pause doing something, such as: Zoom meetings; viewing a movie; processing long tasks such video formats conversion, video editing - rendering.
System is a Lenovo ThinkPad T400, with the latest BIOS update so nothing else can be tried.
The weird thing though is that trouble only appeared AFTER the upgrade to Lite 5.0!
I could suspect anything went wrong if there was an upgrade over a previous version.
Since it's a new series, nothing like that applies. I've made a clean installation.
More than that, I've been using Lite for over two years, on a daily basis, for all my work, starting with 4.2 and everything was fine, until now.
Tried to use DConf, but all the settings are available from the graphical front-end "Settings". Nothing to suggest that might be a hidden setting.

My DE is XFCE. The XFCE version, is the one shipped with the distro's ISO.
Everything else works flawlessly, except for that.
Is it Ubuntu Core related? And if so, is there anything that can be done?
Thanks for all the grat work with Lite!
All the best!
Şerban.

Might be worth following through. Similar problem  in 2012  using Ubuntu 12.10.  Reloading 12.1  seemed to solve problem i.e correct driver was in that distro.

Coming back to the Live CD/DVD question, were there any signs of video problems when running it for extended periods.  If not then the Driver being used seems to be suitable.
What is the resolution of the screen you are running at on the live DVD.  Is that the same resolution as the dual boot mode?

Also http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=876423 might be of some encouragement if there are problems with the LIVE DVD

Hi Susanne965K,

Maybe this will help. Here's a link to a previous thread on the forum that discussed that issue or something similar.

Is the video card Mobile Intel GM965 Express?
Might be worth checking  menu/System/System Information/Summary and posting  Display result

Also, were there any signs of this when running the live CD for extended periods?

Hello, I have an Acer aspire 5720, which I loaded Linux Light as a dual system it Windows Vista. When in Linux light,  the screen goes  black after about 10 minutes, even if you're working on the computer. Then you can't wake it back up.  The computer is a 32bit with 2GB memory. Any suggestions?
