Title: New Guy trying to install possible updates

Install Updates could not fetch the package cache information lists.

Looks like your still in a live environment..
This cannot be updated by typical means.

Once installed you'll be able to update.

If you really are wanting to continue from a live environment, you would want to look at creating a usb with persistence...

Going to install properly and then update.
