Title: installing updates
Post by: vint on March 25, 2022, 07:21:44 PM
I receive updates daily to LL 5.8 and I would like to know is there an easy way to know what updates are important and are not.

All of them are significant. That being said, you can launch the terminal and run this:
Code: [Select]
less /var/log/apt/history.log to see apt's transactions history.

i appreciate the help, I guess I need to be more clear. I am notified of the updates from the notifier and there is only install updates, preferences, about and so I haven't a choice to see what the updates are before installing them.  Not much of a choice.

regards,
Vint

After clicking Install Updates on the notifier, LL should offer to fetch the updates and ask for authentication.

After it has fetched the data, it should display the list of proposed updates with the choice to either cancel or continue.

Are you not getting this option ?

Not true. Click on Install Updates, after it has updated the sources, a window will show you what is available. You can either Cancel or proceed.
