Thanks for your reply to my query.
If I wish to upgrade to a supported version of Linux Lite can you recommend the best way of doing it.
I checked to see if my computer can cope with a 64 bit version of Linux and typing lscpu in the terminal produced the following:

When I attempt to install updates, the on screen message reads:
Linux Lite Updates
Your system is up to date.

However the Linux Lite 3.8 'Updates Status' reads (in red):
46 days since your last update.

Something is not right, any help is resolving this will be gratefully received.

Are you using Linux Lite 3.8? That one's based on Ubuntu 16.04(xenial), which already reached EOL(end of life) on April 30th 2021 and is no longer supported by its vendor Canonical except through a paid annual Extended Security Maintenance (ESM). This means Ubuntu and Linux Lite team stopped supporting it. Not a 100% sure, but maybe, it's not getting updates because there are none; nor from Ubuntu neither from Linux Lite.
Without each others help there ain't no hope for us :)
