Thank you for moving me :D
I don't want to step on any ones toes but perhaps a video might help those folk like me who do not understand the language used in manuals. ;D
I've made a video of customizing the standard panel to what I've been using for the past few years
The top row is 2 minimized windows and the next row is 2 multi-launchers, followed by notifications, clock and then the menu.
I like the extra screen real estate and just looking in one small area for info, menu etc.

If this seems a good approach perhaps folk will have some suggestions on how to improve the video, I don't mind redoing it.

Thank You for making the video I liked the video, it was very informative, and shows another style of panel/what the possibilities are for editing to suit a users needs.
I had thought prior to viewing it that I was the only person who didn't get/understand the need for more than one workspace. I'll be following the tutorial to change the workspace in a few minutes.

Bit of a newbie with regards to changing settings and stuff, but I watched your video and changed the lower panel.
Moved it to the left side,(It's a left-handed thing, I guess!) and put it on auto-hide, removed a couple of things and changed the clock, looks pretty slick !

Sorry friend bitsnpcs I've never used multiple workspaces, if I have 10/12 apps running they are all clearly stacked at the top of the panel and accessable.
I'm guessing you actually use your box for doing work on, a working machine, very rare.
If you find the panel is usefull with multipy workspaces that's good news.

Wow a thinking user "(It's a left-handed thing, I guess!)" not one of the sheep. Moved it to the left side,(It's a left-handed thing, I guess!) and put it on auto-hide, removed a couple of things and changed the clock, looks pretty slick !
If you must use the left side try unchecking the hide option and try the option underneath, don't reserve space or summat.
I always had a gripe when web pages started with a frame or sidebar on the left with options/controls and the main text to the right and decided the originals were written by lefty's and the sheep had followed them, it was quite encouraging when blogs appeared with the controls on the right.
I done a few web pages where there was a button that toggled the controls left or right, I'm a right hander so not as gifted as you lefty's.
I change/move things around and if the changes are still there a few days later it means they're making my life easier so my habbits have changed for the better.
Have you ever used a data partition friend Bruno?
If you could post the output in code tags of sudo blkid I can see what you have to play with.

Hello!
With others 'coming clean' about their lack of desire for multiple workspaces, I now freely admit MY disabling the annoying feature.
Seems like it's WAY too easy to accidentally switch back and forth between different workspaces. You get confused about just which workspace you're in - at least we old folks do...

yes I only need one workspace. I enjoy to focus on what I am doing.
I do not currently use Linux box for working on. When I have learned enough maybe yes.

As you can see , homeworks never have been one of my strong points ! lol , Never done them much at school & haven t changed much !
