Title: If your scanner is not detected
Post by: Paul74 on November 01, 2017, 04:22:17 AM
Hello,

If during installation of a scanner unit (or all-in-one unit), your scanner is not recognized, you may try this solution :

1 - download Vuescan software from :   https://www.hamrick.com/
2 - install the .deb file you just downloaded
3 - run it, and after 2 minutes it will find your scanner unit
4 - you will be able to use any other other scanner software (simplescan, Xsane, ....)
5 - you don't need anymore to run Vuescan

Hope it may help !
Have a nice day.

Which make/model of scanner did you get this driver to work on?

Vusscan is able to automatically detect any brand and model.

In my case, it detect my very old Agfa Snapscan1212 connected via USB, it also detects scanner unit of my HP Photosmart C6180.

I know this topic hasn't been active since 2017, but I just wanted to add that I had had scanner problems for years!  I have been using Linux Lite since 2.8, but now on 5.8 and for both my old HP All-in-One printer and now my Epson ET-2720, the scanner function has been hit and miss.  I have followed god knows how many HowTos and so on.  Tonight nothing worked, til I googled "Linux Lite scanner not found" and this post came up as the first return.

Followed the instructions in this post and it worked like a dream! No guessing which of the six names for the same scanner to use, blah, blah...

I have just spent a very worth while thirty Euros and will happily ignore step 5 of the above insructions :D
