basic wifi praxis

(1/1)

trinidad:
There seems to be a lot of questions about wifi lately. What follows here are a few simple things to keep in mind when, and to do first, when asking about wifi problems.

1) Please remember that Linux wifi is in a constant state of improvement. Support is constantly changing.

2) If you are looking for pci card support for LL, please open a terminal and run this command first:  lspci -vnn | grep 14e4

3) Go to this link:   https://wikidevi.com/wiki/List_of_Wi-Fi_Device_IDs_in_Linux   and look for the id that matches your card.

4) Drivers list here:  https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users/drivers

5) If you are using USB   rt2800usb   is the most widely supported. Panda wireless runs this chip and is basically plug and play in Linux.

This is the up to date (not archived ) Linux wireless page:  https://wireless.wiki.kernel.org/en/users
