CUPS error

New to Linux Lite. Need some help with getting a wireless printer up and running.

Keep running into:
"CUPS server error"
"There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'server-error-internal-error.' "
when attempting to add the printer via System/Printers menu. I tried installing the Brother drivers via the Wireless Wizard off their website. Didn't seem to have any effect. Still same result.

While I have some experience with Linux and the command line, this one is beyond what I know how to troubleshoot. Is this a printer settings issue, a firewall issue, or something else? Everything else seems to work - just not the printer.

What is this telling me? I know CUPS = Common Unix Printing Server, but am not knowledgeable enough to know what to look for after getting this type error message.

Background info:
Just moved my elderly mother (age 80) to Fedora and ran into a problem with the top feeder on her Brother all-in-one printer/scanner. It can scan from the glass, but not from the top feeder. No issues with printing.

It's her first time off Windows (since our Apple IIe when we were kids in the 80s). Since this change is just now a thing for her, she won't be completely set on sticking with any version of Linux for a few months - so I have a window of time to adjust things as needed.

WHO: Me - Not any kind of power user on any platform (windows, linux, or anything else). I've used linux off & on since the 1990s. I've been on linux full time now for about 3 years (Fedora & OpenMandriva, plus the same bit of distro hopping the average user does).

WHAT: After my Mom's computer (Core i5) effectively came to a halt, she agree to let me do some upgrades and install linux. Changed out her old 5400 rpm HDD to an SSD to clear up that bottleneck, changed her wifi card from a B/G/N to an AX, and installed Fedora Workstation thinking that would be the best chance for a "works out of the box" type situation.

It did, except for that top feeder. And after seeing how much of a difference that made, apparently my Mom started chatting up my sister about it. My sister is now asking me to do her computer when she gets back from vacation. Similar hardware situation, approximately 15 year old laptop (don't know what model it is yet - and neither does she, "it's a computer?").

Total of about $125 for an SSD, Wifi6 card, and a drive enclosure for turning that old HDD into an external storage drive. And she got to avoid the "new computer" thing that elderly people dislike.

WHY1: That puts me in a position of wanting to standardize all 3 laptops onto the same operating system in order to give myself the best chance at becoming familiar with it and support my Mom & Sister when they inevitably will screw things up. Which is how I came by Linux Light. I did a search for the linux distro with the best chance of working "out of the box" and it seems Ubuntu has moved back in front of Fedora since the last time I looked (+10 years ago). Linux Lite gets listed as good for older laptops that would benefit from a lightweight distro and Ubuntu's hardware support. Using a light distro gives these laptops the potential for the longest possible service life.

I keep all of my data stored on an external drive, so I can do full installs all day without bothering anything. I jumped in with a full drive partition because that's what I'd be doing on my Mom and sisters computers.

WHY2: If I can get passed this printer issue, then LL is an option. It's already proven to work on my setup with a 2nd monitor that has speakers built into it (sounds great!). If I can't get passed the printer issues - then LL is not an option.

WHY3: I also have another 15 year old laptop I plan on turning into a linux box so my 8yo can play Minetest. It's an AMD and a bit slower (was cheaper) than mine or my Mom's computers - was a hand-me-down from the In-laws. I figure that would be a good test run of a less capable laptop to see how LL handles old hardware. But I need to get this printer issue fixed first.

How do I fix this?

Help needed to install Epson XP-225 Network Printer

I think I am going to need quite a lot of help, being new to Linux Lite and somewhat new to Linux.

I went to Epson Downloads for XP-225, Linux Deb(x64)
When I clicked the Download button, a new tab opened which listed the contents of epson-inkjet-printer-escpr_1.8.8-1_amd64.deb

How can I get the file to be saved in my Downloads folder?

Brother HL-L2325DW Driver Installs but Printer Will Not Print on Linux Lite 7.4

Hi folks
I'm currently trying to install my Brother HL-L2325DW printer and make it work with Linux Lite, but I have stumbled on a printing problem that I can't seem to fix.
System Information
Linux Lite Version: 7.4 Memory: 8 GB RAM Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B450M-A Kernel: 6.8.x Graphics Chip: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

Printer Model: Brother HL-L2325DW Connection: USB
Problem Description
The printer is recognized by Linux Lite and is listed correctly in the Printers settings as well as in the CUPS interface. The installation process seems to be done correctly, but after I print a document, the printer stays silent.
On few occasions, the print job briefly rights in the queue and then disappears as if it was printed successfully, but no pages come out. Sometimes the job remains pending without any action.
Drivers Attempted
I've already downloaded and installed the original drivers from:

Also, I installed a Linux driver pack that can be found here:

Both setups ended without showing any errors, but still the printer doesn't print anything.
Troubleshooting Performed
I removed the printer several times and put it back afterwards.
I experimented with installing from both the Printers app and the CUPS interface.
I rebooted the CUPS service.
The printer is correctly seen by the system.
I even tried printing from CUPS.
Double-checked the USB cable and the printer are in good working order.

Current Status
Printing device detected.
Driver installs okay.
Printer recognized by CUPS.
Print jobs accepted by CUPS.
No actual printing operation happens.

Dell B1165nfw

I am unable to install this printer driver. I have the package from Dell's website but can't get it to install. Executing the installation script opens a terminal window which asks me for my password. Once I enter it and hit ENTER, the window closes after a second or two. Note that the Dell software package is from 2013. Anyone have any insights on how to do this? I am new to Linux Lite, and Linux in general. Thanks in advance.

Epson WF-4830 Install

Anybody got ant hints please? I did download driver and utility from Epson.

Xerox DocuPrint P265 dw installation

Hi - absolute newbie
Trying to install the named printer.
In Menu>System>Printers>Add it finds and recognises the connected printer "connected to USB"
Searching for a driver it says it has found one - "Gutenprint"
When I go "Forward" to install the driver it says "Installing openprint-gutenprint" but it just sits there (for at least 5 minutes) and appears to be doing nothing.
I have the Xerox distribution CD that came with the printer (several years ago) but not sure if any drivers on the CD would be Lite-compatible: or how I would go about accessing them.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Install Brother HL-L2480DW printer

I would be grateful for some help getting my new Brother HL-L2480DW printer installed (by USB) working on my computer (Linux Lite 5.4). I've followed the instructions to download driver and install on the Brother website (multiple times),every time it looks like it is set up, but the printer ALWAYS says idle and doesn't print. The printer functions because I can print a test page from the printer menu. I want to be able to print & scan (copy works fine). Why isn't there a USB option in the printer settings?

I'm trying to find a compatible newer all-in-one hp printer that would work on my Lite 6.6. I have an older hp/Compaq mini-tower, and my current hp Office Jet 3830 works fine, except it has a major issue when feeding paper. It's not worth the expense to get it fixed. I'm trying to stay with hp because I have the "instant ink" feature. I'm looking for something between $50-$99. Suggestions? Thanks.

I just changed to Linux Lite from Mint. I had no problems with Mint recognizing or printing with the above printer. In Lite the only way I can print anything is to the access the printer via the usb port. Any tips would sure be appreciated.

Hi Jerry Thanks for your work On linux Lite. I can see My printer on the network but when I click it ...It act like its trying to get drivers from the printer but just sits there

Hi there

I'm a total neophyte with Linux (installed Linux Lite yesterday), and have no idea how to install my Canon printer. No idea what I'm doing at all, tbh.

I've followed the manual, but I can't seem to find a driver file for the G5050 at all, and have no idea where to extract the driver file to in any case (unable to install to /usr/share/ppd for some reason).

Can anyone out there advise on a step-by-step for this?

I use linux lite since almost the standings of this operating system, while I had printers canon, epson etc etc, I never had problems, but since I changed to an hp 6000 series, it's always problems, printer not recognized, scanner not recognized, and because of that I had to replace the operating system of my main computer, but always keeping linux lite on the laptop.
do you have a solution for this type of problem? thank you in advance.

Printer is detected fine. This printer has a phantom paper ham. I use it to scan only. I would like to use it to scan on LL, but do not see an option to scan. Pressing the scan button on the printer itself just makes the power button blink several times.
