Title: Update question
Post by: arky217 on October 26, 2019, 03:00:03 PM
First, let me say that I really like LL; it is my daily driver.
So, much thanks to Jerry and all the other contributors.
I have tried nearly all the top distros, but none seems to
satisfy like LL. I just seems so dependable. I always come
back to LL after comparing it to other distros.

The forum is especially a blessing; questions seem to be
responded to on a professional and timely basis.

As with nearly all other Linux distros, LL is free to the end user.
Because of that, I simply cannot understand posters that complain
as if they paid a huge sum for the distro.

With that said, please don't consider the following question
as a complaint of any kind; it is simply a curiosity question.

I was just wondering when you click on Install Updates,
why a window pops up that gives the choice to 'quit' or 'continue' ?
I'm probably overlooking the reason, but it kind of seems like
an unnecessary step. (Yes, I know, a very minor thing, but I was just curious)

Would there be any easy way to eliminate that step ?

Also, would there be any way to have a continuous indication
on a panel that updates are available instead of, or in addition to,
the timed notification ?

Anyway, long live Linux Lite; I think it should be at the top of the
DistroWatch chart instead of MX (and yes, I've used MX quite a bit).

A developer always gives people an option at the start, it's done because people make mistakes, they could have meant to click on the application above or below it. As for a tray notification, who knows what the future will look like :)
