Title: Uninstall option under menu rightclick
Post by: MS on October 16, 2018, 08:10:22 AM
Hi,

perhaps this is due to myself emerging from WindowsOS environment, but I do miss an option to issue uninstalling of a program from rightlicking it in the desktopbar menu, then selecting an uninstall. This option could match the "purge" function on the selected program, perhaps.

That's not a bad suggestion. The only way we could implement it though is to have it work on launchers on the Desktop due to numerous limitations. Taskbar for example is not possible, the XFCE devs would have to code that. Desktop launchers could be possible. Leave it with me to ponder.

A similar thing to consider, especially given the majority of the user base and the target audience, is a way to automatically prevent new user added PPAs from being added to the update function. This is the primary cause of update failures for new users.

That could be so easily fixed by Ubuntu implementing a logic check against the OS series. eg. if no release file for bionic reject else add PPA. Throw up message window.
