Title: Mirage Image Viewer in Lite Software Tool
Post by: Moltke on September 03, 2018, 01:44:48 PM
Could you add Mirage Image Viewer to the lite software tool, please? I've been using it for a while now and it definitely is a very good app with some quite  handy features:

- Supports png, jpg, svg, xpm, gif, bmp, tiff, and others
- Cycling through multiple images (with preloading)
- Thumbnail pane for quick navigation
- Slideshow and fullscreen modes
- Rotating, zooming, flipping, resizing, cropping
- Saving, deleting, renaming
- Custom actions
- Command-line access
- Configurable interface
- Available in many languages

And best of all is not bloated; it loads and runs fast, so I think it fits LL standars. I tried it first when I needed to rename a bunch of image files and ristretto is fine for  viewing but not so much for anything else. With Mirage I open the folder containing the images I wanted to rename and it was as simple as selecting an image, hitting the F2 key, typing in the new name, hit enter and that was it; quick and easy. I didn't even need to reach the mouse for that.  :)

In case anyone feels like trying Mirage is as easy as open a terminal and running apt-get:

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install mirage
Here's the link to Mirage's website if you want to know more about it: http://mirageiv.sourceforge.net/

@Moltke, did you forget 'Take Screenshot' in its options too? Thanks for the tipoff, definitely a more usefull app than Ristretto IMHO and is now installed. The Mirage GUI bears similarities to that of Ristretto. Of course! Themes!
For anyone who can't find where screenshots are saved, its '/tmp/mirage_NNNNN/ screenshot.png' where NNNNN is a random number.

Hi @Jerry

Thanks for the link. Are you considering to include Mirage among the apps one can install via lite software tool?  That'd be nice :) Oh wait, unless you had already done so in LL 4.0 which I haven't tried/install yet because of the so many issues with my wired network. I'm using a usb dongle with a 2gb a month plan, yes, a freaking month! So I can't download anything, well I could but then I'd be charged for the extra kbs/mbs/gbs which is not cheap by the way. I'm telling you, this business of the usb dongle, is quite a profitable one, it's a damn trap "we'll give you 2gb and if you use more than that you'll have to pay for each and every one of those extra KB (JAJAJAJA guy laughs sinisterly)" and of course you'll use more.  :-\

@justme2  I copied/pasted the features from it's website  ::), and I hadn't even noticed that option. I use  the screenshot default app; just hit "ptrscr" key, but since you mentioned I just checked and sure enough there it was, thanks for pointing it out! :)

There are no plans to add any more Image viewers/editors to Lite Software. If that were the case, Pinta would have to be removed and that's unlikely to happen. Cheers :)

Oh I see...well, it was worth a try  8) I guess those willing/needing to try a different pic viewer/editor will have to install it manually.  Thanks @Jerry  for taking the time to answer.

Cheers!

Thanks for the suggestion. What we need at the moment is any suggestions for software that we have overlooked that is both available on all pc platforms, and is widely used eg. Handbrake.
