Linux Lite, of the worst distro if any. I would never recommend such a bad distro.

Ridiculous. I have tested around 20 different Linux distros. After all that, Linux Lite has distinguished itself as the most stable, most intuitive, most Windows-friendly and just all around satisfying of them all. I won't mention other distros, as it is this forum's policy not to do so, but it would be nice if people would actually read the posting rules, so we don't have the kind of distractions evident in this thread.

And as for this post, good grief, get a life!

64bit OS (32-bit on Samsung netbook) installed in Legacy mode on MBR-formatted SSDs (except pi which uses a micro SDHC card):
2017 - Raspberry pi 3B (4cores) ~ [email protected] - LibreElec, used for upgrading our Samsung TV (excellent for the task)
2012 - Lenovo G580 2689 (2cores; 4threads] ~ [email protected] - LL3.8/Win8.1 dual-boot (LL working smoothly)
2011 - Samsung NP-N145 Plus (1core; 2threads) ~ Intel Atom [email protected] - LL 3.8 32-bit (64-bit too 'laggy')
2008 - Asus X71Q (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6/Win8.1 dual-boot, LL works fine with kernel 4.15
2007 - Dell Latitude D630 (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6, works well with kernel 4.4; 4.15 doesn't work

Just installed it - and it runs beautifully! Will take a little while to get used to the new design (minutes probably), but it is quite the nice upgrade in look, feel and design.

As for 'flamers' on the forum: if you reply to them - all you're going to do is encourage them to 'flame' more. Why sink to their level? Besides: their are many versions of GNU/Linux out there. If you don't like this version - change to one that you like. Try changing Windows or OS X internally; the results will be evident.  :D

Hi, I also just installed LL 4.0 (found a link to the release ISO at Distrowatch) and simply *love* it!

Been on MX-17.1 previously, but because of some system lock-ups I needed a light distro based on Ubuntu 18.04 so here I go...  No problems so far  8)

THANK YOU!!!

Erm, maybe there is another thread somewhere so correct me if I'm wrong but I just re-read the forum rules and there is no mention about other distros.
Unless you are speaking about spamming/publicity? With hundreds of distros, it would be hard not to mention what others are doing and everybody is free to their opinions... of course sometimes this can be boderline publicity to moderators could have to step in.
As the saying goes since the olden days: "Don't feed the troll!" :P

As for new versions of distros (even on other platforms), I personnaly ALWAYS wait for the first revision .1 or service pack. The ONLY exception is Linux Lite, it has just been the most stable for me. And, no, I'm not related to this distro, I just like it! ;)

Cheers!

Well, I guess you got me. I did see something to this effect somewhere on this forum, possibly from Jerry himself. I assumed it must have been in the rules, but did not go back to them to verify. But I know I saw it here somewhere.

Hey gang,
I need some help.  I loved LL 3.6 and just installed 4.0 on my trusty 10-yr old HP laptop. For some reason my boot time is now painfully slow...like over 6 minutes slow!  I've reinstalled a few times, but it did not help.

Can you guys suggest a fix?

Did you read the release notes?

I did not read the release notes, but I watched the installation video.   Where do I find the release notes and what should I be looking for in them?

Always read the release notes before installing an operating system. It's analogous to eating a food without reading the ingredients.

Awesome work Jerry and the team. Absolutely love the flat design, look of LL 4.0 and the general organisation of menu items etc.  Made a new install on 2 laptops and a desktop, all running smooth as silk.

Congrats on job well done. Can't believe we are getting all this for free. We owe you guys massively !

Thank you Jerry.
Yes, I rushed through the installation like the mindless Win-doze snoozer that I have been for decades.
Guess I got overly excited.

Okay I removed virtualbox as the release notes instructed and that shortened my boot time from 6 minutes to 5. That's better but it's still pretty slow. My laptop is 10 yeard old so I'm not expecting 30 second boot times, but do you guys have any other ideas that might speed things up?
