I've just tested and the Keepassx 2.02 database works with Keepassxc.

Thanks, Jerry.

I'm with those who say keep it light and simple, and let the user install whatever extra software (s)he wishes.  Keep it light!

My one real concern with anything based on Ubu 18.04 is going to be the new "data collection" feature.  Presumably can be disabled in the installer, but it's on by default.

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned but, maybe to include HandBrake (The open source video transcoder) in the Lite Software menu. I use it for both Windows/Linux works really well and it's open source :D

Good suggestion. Done :)

@abd_bela and @kissbaby3
Dont know about the other two by I know Samba is a must for Windows Networks users when dealing with file sharing and what not.
Since one of Linux Lite's goal is to appeal to Windows Users, this must stay.
I don't have a Mac but this could also apply there.

Cheers!

HI,
I Found a lot of softwares, specially daemon  are installed but not actually used by the common users:  in my case I never use the samba, nmbd, smbd....
I suggeste to install the most used and leave the user to complete and custome his installation when necessary.
regards

i agree with you , keep the download small and simple.
let the other person install the rest , this is one of the reason i picked linux lite, and OH !, my Uncle is now using Linux lite 3.8 on his 10 year old pc, its a Dell Dimension B110, 32BIT , 2 Gigs of ram and a 50 GB hard drive, it used to have a expired windows XP home on it .....  not sure if he is going to stick with Linux, but now he wont have to rush to buy a new PC.

Another possible suggestion maybe for the many people that have fingerprint readers on their laptops.  Include a driver for Broadcom Corp. BCM5880. I know I have one myself and have lots of trouble getting it to work, but I'll keep trying ^_^

Hi people,

I don't know how the Lite Software program works in the background but are all the programs in there using the "standard" repositories?
Yesterday I was so glad I found a program (called Krita) to replace Gimp but when I saw it was only in PPA and AppImage formats, I was depressed thinking Linux Lite could not implement it in it's current format. But maybe I'm wrong?

Cheers!

Just to chip in.  I use KeepPassX 2.90.2 (which I believe is in the Lite Software list) revision 3679b2170142c14362fa75e990ef85b80b1b1b46.  Assuming that this updates normally when using menu / Favorites / Install Updates, then this should be the latest version as of mid-February.

I am able to use its auto-type feature without (obvious) problems, so it does that that: Right-click database entry you created for ID and password and left-lick Perform Auto-type.

If you should update or change to a different version as suggested, I would need to be able to convert the KeePassX 2.90.2 compatible database to being usable by KeePassXC.

Thanks.

I see auto-type has been included in the meantime.
However, am not sure which version you're using. According to the website the last release is 2.03. I just installed it via Lite-Software and got 2.02. which is over too years old.
According to my knowledge and experience all three programs can work with the same database.
