I would expect problems with Linux kernels and firmware and Lenovo hardware to be resolved over the next few years.

Unfortunately i can not test it because i already installed windows on that laptop.As i mentioned he has this laptop for his work and canot experiment too muhc but as long as it works with UEFI installation it doesn't bother me. I will switch to Linux Lite when 5.0 version is out on stable release.

There are issues with the older ryzen cpus and laptops. I am in testing myself for a fix. You might try adding nomodeset to grub right in front of quiet splash and run update-grub to set it and reboot to see if that might fix it. Those cpus had bad firmware on the bios and have never worked right in Linux. I am going to add that switch to the section for safe boot on my stuff to see if that works. Please let me know if that has any effect as this helps others. I have a stable version that is 20.04 based but early stuff on that laptop with that switch added and it is rock stable, not the fastest but stable.

Hello people,

My father bought a Lenovo IdeaPad L340-15API few months ago and i installed Linux Lite 4.8 BIOS. At some point he wanted to use the HDMI output (which i did not try after installation) and he couldn't. He asked me to switch to Windows 10 because he needed the HDMI port for his work. Unable to find a solution i decided to try version 5.0 with UEFI hopping it would fix the HDMI issue. Although i got an error during installation(pic), it worked. The HDMI was working perfectly out of the box. The only problem that persists on this laptop is the Wi-Fi. On every installation i need to patch an older kernel for it to work. I don't know if this has anything to do with UEFI or anything else, i just hope it gets fixed on the future. I will stick to Windows 10(on this laptop only, all other computers run Linux Lite 4.8) for now until version 5.0 is released as stable.

Thanks to the whole linux community for helping with the Wi-Fi issues and thanks to the Linux Lite developers for fixing alot alot of issues on every update!
