I have been running Linux Lite for about a month and up until now, it followed the settings in the power manager.
However, today it stopped suspending when I close the lid. Instead it does nothing and you can see if you turn the laptop on its side that it doesn't even shut the screen off.
I tried the solutions here (https://askubuntu.com/questions/763085/with-ubuntu-16-04-laptop-doesnt-suspend-when-lid-is-closed) and here (https://askubuntu.com/questions/395428/laptop-does-not-suspend-when-lid-is-closed).
This did not start after an update (though I updated the system before I started troubleshooting), so it's odd. The only thing that has changed today is that I replaced the keyboard of all things though I can't see how they'd be related.
The laptop is an old Acer Aspire One D270 I'm refurbing. Any other info just ask. I'm not sure where to go next in troubleshooting?

Suspend does also not work right on a ('box'-)pc.
A little bit a pity. I use it quite often on other distri when it works.

Not trying to steal your post... but I too have been having an issue with my laptop Not going to sleep upon closing the lid.
I can hear the fan continue to run and run... and the battery drains! It does work in Mint, but haven't tried any other distro.
I really like THIS distro and hope there is a resolution to this soon... especially in the up-coming release of this OS! I am still
on 3.2 64 bit because 3.4 did not work as well... so I down-graded.
Laptop Model is: HP 14-AL061NR

It is working now. After some update I suspect. Great! ;)
