This problem persists - after a relatively good period it has become more frequent, now with almost daily desktop/panel crashes.

I will try to hold out till the end of the month and then do an install of 4.0 to see if that cures it.

I tried not closing the lid, just pressing start button to suspend during intervals or overnight - no use, 3 more crashes.

I did find a note in my records re. the first event, which I associated with starting up without the external monitor (which was connected) being powered up - this was while I still had LL 3.4. So probably moving to 3.6 was not the problem, but of course I don't know.

In between crashes, LL is great, so I hope I can take time off over Christmas to research this problem. I will post here if I find a solution.

As always, re-starting gets it back working, though I've to enter long master passwords etc. again!

This has happened again, 3 times in the last 8 days.

Lock-screen (see above) didn't cure it, so I disabled it.

I did try "display>config new displays when connected", still it crashed.

This latest one happened immediately after waking as I dragged LibreWriter from the built-in to the external large monitor, and this application (image) broke up then froze. My first experience of the problem seems to have been related (see above) to the dual monitor setup.

Also the problem started after loading LL 3.6.

It's a pain having to re-start after each crash, entering long master passwords on two applications etc.  Hopefully it will get sorted with a future upgrade, I myself can't think of any solution.

Thanks,

I've selected lock screen etc., so hopefully that will help. The problem has only happened occasionally, so I'll see over the next few weeks.

Menu>Settings>Settings Manager>Power Manager

Try selecting lock screen when system is going for sleep. Test a few of the other settings there.

This problem has occured again - I pressed the start key to suspend, left lid open, a while later pressed start key to wake

(all actions I use every day without problem)

and all icons had black fuzzy text, text missing etc. as previously.

I had to re-boot and it is back to normal. Am I the only one to have had this problem?

i should add - the above problem was after a lid-closed-overnight-then-wake

as distinct from press start button (set to suspend) suspend, but leaving lid open.

Upon a normal waking from Suspend the following:

desktop icons with fuzzy black text

text missing from panel – when cursor passed over a launcher, text box opens but blank

date and time & calendar blank

opening Menu - icons show but not icon text

Backups application window open but text (“Restore” etc. ) only appears when pointer passes over.

Firefox and Thunderbird appeared to be without these problems.

Resolved by re-starting and selected the same session.

I had this or very similar recently, but I put that down to not having the external monitor powered up before waking the computer. On this occasion the monitor was powered up well beforehand.
