Title: No Sound in my system
Post by: iamrealbhuvi on September 19, 2022, 03:01:50 AM
There is no sound in my system speakers.
I tried "inxi -SMA" in my terminal and it showed like this.
It shows two sound devices in the audio in the section, one is Intel and another is Nvidia.

Hi! :)

I encountered the following situations:

1. Speakers are muted.
For some reasons, during the setup process, the speakers changed the status from "Active" to "Mute".
I went into Pulse Audio Volume Control and checked the speakers status. If this is the case, you can use a headphones set to check if the sound is present.
2. More than one audio interface.
This is my case: I have an USB audio interface (Lexicon Lambda), then an Intel (the audio chipset) and the next is from the video card (NVidia audio).
For some reason, during the setup process, the default chosen audio interface is the wrong one.
If this is the case, I choose from the Pulse Audio Volume Control the right one and this solves the problem.

If for some reason you lack the Pulse Audio Volume Control, you can use Synaptic Package Manager to install it. Search for the package "pavucontrol". If your preferred version is a qt version, then install "pavucontrol-qt".

Driver issue.
Another possibility, is a missing driver. Sometimes the default driver works unexpected with the current hardware.
In this case:
Go to "Software & Updates". It is in the Main Menu, "Settings". Scroll down to find it, then click on it. Choose the "Additional drivers" tab from the "Software & Updates" window.
Wait until the window updates itself. If you find a driver there, choose to activate the provided proprietary driver. Usually, this solves the problem.

Good luck and best regards! :)
