+++ From me too.  Nice info rokytnji.

But this was done to show how to properly post when really earnest trying to get assistance and not trolling which is my take on this thread.

Couldn't agree more.  Pretty clear from all prior posts (in this and other threads) from OP that not really interested in learning anything or making much of a real effort to do so.  Just wants to complain.

Just posting some relevant troubleshooting info in case this comes up again.

I am in Mint 17 right now so just posting what I know from there.

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-get install dvd+rw-tools
If it says it already newest version , no sweat.

Code: [Select]
$ sudo apt-get install libcdio-utils
[sudo] password for harry:

After this operation, 407 kB of additional disk space will be used.

Processing triggers for man-db (2.6.7.1-1ubuntu1) ...
Setting up libcdio-utils (0.83-4.1ubuntu1) ...

After installing the above. I went out to my Truck and grabbed my Tubular Bells CD which is what I listen to for christmas music.
I insert it and let it autorun but I say don't play it.
Next in Terminal.

cd-info won't run till you install libcdio-utils. It is not a big install as I show and it just for gathering info to post in forums when having trouble with you dvd or cd player.

Code: [Select]
$ dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/sr0
INQUIRY:                [Slimtype][DVD A DS8A5SH   ][XS21]
GET [CURRENT] CONFIGURATION:
:-( non-DVD media mounted, exiting...

Since I have a cd in the drive instead of a DVD. I do not get a more verbose readout and it exits. Just posting info like I said.

Below is Audacious music player playing my Christmas CD.

Hopefully this will help future DRM Threads. I know myt Tubular Bells disc is not DRM. But this was done to show how to properly post
when really earnest trying to get assistance and not trolling which is my take on this thread.

If you're now using linux full time, it's time to convert your existing media files (video & audio) to free formats, and continue to use free software. Free software will liberate you from anti-social technologies like DRM.

You should also consider the free ogg format. That's pretty much what my entire library consists of. If not ogg then flac. I'm also looking forward to more widespread adoption of opus.

Hello, Mike!

Thanks for your kind words in the other post.

Judging from your posts here, you seem to abound in good ideas. Therefore, I'll look into that, to the extent that Ogg-Vorbis doesn't cause me problems in playing them on other devices.

Hello!

VLC WILL play WMAs, but VLC, or anything else, won't even touch DRM files that don't 'belong' to that particular PC.

When MP3 players first came out, they didn't have much internal memory, and memory cards were only 32-64 MB in size. Therefore, I converted my MP3s to WMAs to fit twice as many songs on the player.

Recently, I have been working to convert them all back to MP3s, as space is no longer much of an issue. Abhorrent to the concept, I have managed to totally avoid DRM...

“The stream is encrypted and decryption is not supported”.
Regards to all

ps – Bill Gates is a genius

Hello john9159,

Do you have access to another computer or laptop ?

If so you can do this -
1 - plug in external drive containing DRM musics to the other computer
2 - plug in a lead to the speaker output (or headphone output on a speaker itself) of that
computer, plug the other end of the cable in to the line in of the machine running Linux Lite.
3 - play wmv with its DRM, on "other computer", use program to capture the line in stream in
smarter Linux Lite computer and save as DRM free mp3.

It's almost as though the unrestricted extras are indicating being installed, when they may not be.??

"The stream is encrypted and decryption is not supported" is usually a pretty good indicator that the file is encrypted via DRM.

O.K... I was just thinking out loud
So it's not a LL issue... It's the properties of the media/files

I'm still a little unsure why he tried Linux to begin with if Windows is so great.

I think that it all boils down to a placebo effect. If you expect it to work it will, but if your mind is set against even penicillin won't help.
