Hello!

Are they also slow from a flash drive? If not, you could use a 64GB flash drive to hold 12 4.7GB (DVD) movies.

If they play OK on your internal HD but not from the external one, then your problem has to do with the data transfer rate of your external hard drive. This is especially an issue with REALLY old PCs that uses USB 1.1.

If you ARE using USB 1.1 and have a CardBus slot available, you can add two USB 2.0 ports with a PCMCIA USB 2.0 interface...

I have no idea. I'll try VLC, but until now, never could get it to work. Always hangs, in my three different machines. :(

What speed is the hard drive, and have you tried VLC, smplayer is a little heavy.

Well that works but it's not practical to copy a movie to the hard drive each time.
Isn't there other solution?
