External monitor use with laptop
#1
I'm running the 3.8 version of LL, and I'd like to use an external monitor with my laptop with the lid closed. Is this possible?

I searched here and came up empty. Also I went into Power Manager and tried all selections of "when lid is closed" (was hoping to see do nothing, but not a choice).
I haven't connected an external monitor to it yet to check the functions, but it doesn't seem as if I'll be able to use an external monitor with my laptop lid closed.

Thinking I must have overlooked something.

Hi,
Go to the energy management and under "laptop lid" change the options to "turn of display" (or what it says exactly in English). Connect your external monitor and switch to it in the display menu and close the lid.

The laptop shouldn't go to sleep mode or anything and you should by able to use your laptop with only the external monitor.

I know all my screenshots are in German but I hope you understand what I meanĀ  ;D

Wasn't too hard to understand. I opened Power Management and placed it beside your screenshot and made sure the settings were the same.

I then opened display and ticked configure new displays when connected, I connected the external monitor to the laptop and selected the external monitor. I closed the lid, and I was up and running.

Thanks for your help.
