Hi Misko,
This doesn't work for me I followed your instructions to the letter and I am experienced in writing desktop files but no joy. I can put a launcher in any menu category to use it as a stand-alone function but cannot get it into the Settings Manager.

Have been running LL 2.2 Beta on old system (shown below) for about a week. Runs impressively well on this P4 with only 512MB of RAM. Firefox definitely hogs memory and occationally causes some lagging, but that's to be expected in this case. Installed Midori browser and that is noticeably less resource hungry. (My first experience with Midori. Not bad, but I still prefer Firefox.)

However, today I tried to run the "Install Updates" and it seems to stall out and not get past a certain point -- it gets stuck at "100% [waiting for headers]" line shown at bottom of below code output.

100% [Waiting for headers]
Anyone else experiencing this? Or have any idea why it's happening?
P.s. Just tried out on main computer running LL 2.0 and same thing happens. Have a feeling that it's just a temporary problem with the download servers.

Hi Bill,
Install Updates just ran fine for me. I'd bet that it's a server issue. The only thing I can think of is the update server selection.

Sorry if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but will the final point releases be available the update tool or do we need to do fresh installs?
Edit: Nevermind, I missed it in the OP.
So I guess my next question is, depending on the frequency of the releases, are users expected to do fresh installs multiple times per year to get the latest and greatest? It seems like a lot of work to customize the OS to your liking just to have to reinstall a couple of months later. Hopefully I'm misunderstanding this.

LL s a Rolling Release mate , you don t need to reinstall , just do the updates . Unless you want a clean install every times . More work .

Not based on what Jerry's original post says:
"There is no upgrade process from one Linux Lite version to the next because of all the in-between modifications"
